Not often I will write anything negative about a place I have been but I think this one deserves it. We live locally to Abode Canterbury and have enjoyed many a pre dinner drink in their champagne/cocktail bar - whilst the drinks were always a bit on the pricey side, it was always a nice treat as the venue was... We booked for afternoon tea and left having complained about everything. Right from the start, the service was terrible. It was a saturday afternoon and yes they were busy. However, we waited 25 minutes to even get the menu. We then waited a further 20 minutes for someone to come back over to our table. The afternoon tea was a... More

We booked to enjoy a Mothers Day champagne tea and unfortunately have to say we were all disappointed. Not the relaxing experience we were expecting especially for the price. The sandwiches should have been finger and scones over done and so very hard. It was not a treat at all and we will not be coming back.

Sandwiches and cakes were good but scones were over cooked and not as good as previous afternoon teas in Kent which were a cheaper price. They had a good selection of teas which had free top ups. Service generally was good although had to wait a while for additional tea.

We booked this on-line under the illusion that we were paying £19.95 for afternoon tea for a treat for my mother-in-law. My partner was contacted a few days later to ask for a deposit which he paid. Not once was he told that due to it being Mother's day they were going to hike the price up to £25.00 per... More

Booked an afternoon tea as a birthday treat for my two nieces and we had a fabulous time. Nice surrounding, lovely food and the staff were great, happily dealing with requests for different sandwich fillings due to one food allergy and one fussy eater. I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel for afternoon tea, just don't expect to eat... More

Lovely Afternoon Tea, I had the Champayne and it was lovely. Lovely finger sandwiches filled with lovely things such as Egg, Salmon, Ham, cream cheese and cucumber. There were so many cakes I had to ask for a box to take some home with me.

Having been a visitor to Canterbury numerous times and frequenting here I can honestly say it has gone on a slippery slope down, service is shoddy and the "Champagne selection is average" . When we arrived the room was very empty but was asked if we had booked, fortunately knowing this industry I know tables are set aside for Drop-Ins... More

While I am not adverse to paying £21 for two cocktails, I do like them delivered with style. Brought to the table on a tray, perhaps with a coaster to put beneath the glass when it is placed on the table. Last night the bartender walked across the room with a glass in each hand and put them on the... More
