Great pub-- good atmosphere, ales/lager, and pub dinners. Walked around Dover and found lots of pubs for drinks but questionable food. This one had a menu so we took a chance walking down the stairs. Great decision so you can follow with confidence.

Warm and friendly pub, with really nice food! Glad to find this on a Sunday evening, and that they let us keep our dog with us :-)

Looking for lunch in off-season Dover, we happened upon Blakes. What a wonderful place: the basement pub has a cheery atmosphere, the service attentive, gentle and good-natured. And the food is wonderful and plentiful! Fish and chips of course, but venison burgers and lamb shank to die for. Excellent!!!

We found this pub towards the castle way, it's small and really nice, downstairs in the cellar there is live music several times per week. The dining room in "old fashioned" and really nice. The food was amazing, I had a steak with fried egg, chips, mushroom, onion rings; my girlfriend had roasted seabream with ginger and garlic, parisienne potatoes... More

Below ground seating so nice as it was a heat wave when we visited and street level was warm. Great food and beer selection.

A very British place. We were so fortunate that this great small band came playing for us shortly after we had received our typical - and very good - pub food. A very nice experience.

We had nice dinner there. The bar downstairs provides very enjoyable live music. So we would recommend the choose this place for a lovely evening out.

On an unplanned visit to see our friends in Dover, we heard that Blakes if Dover came highly recommended by a a family member. We were more than happy with the food. The steak was cooked exactly as I asked, medium to rare, not over cooked as too many restaurants do these days. The chilli was excellent and so much... More

We just popped into Blakes of Dover in the cellar! Awesome very cozy and a singer too. Off the cuff we decided to eat, the food was very satisfactory to our tastes. Steaks and pies were ordered absolutely great.

Four of us visited Blakes for lunch and drinks in mid September. The barman who served us was abrupt, surly and totally miserable. The food we received was acceptable but the beer was clearly off which obviously he denied and his attitude went from bad to worse. The establishment appears to have plenty of character but with staff like that I fear... More
