Reknowned for its food, we went for a mid-week lunch but were disappointed to find the lunch menu is now very limited - sandwiches, soup, and 'bowls' (gumbo, on that day). All good quality, although sandwiches were a bit meager and the chips are excellent. The beers that they brew themselves are also excellent but, overall, a disappointing experience.

We last went to the Drunken Duck five years ago and had a fabulous meal, so returned with great excitement. However we were hugely disappointed. The lunch menu was extremely limited, and we both opted for the 'seafood chowder with garlic bread' The chowder was an unpleasant consistancy and reminded me strongly of tinned tomato soup. It had chunks of... More

Called in for Sunday lunch - Easter Sunday - managed to get a table without booking and it appeared to be very busy. Roast beef lunch -£16, but it fell short in a few areas. Asked for the beef to be medium, but it was rare Roast potatoes very crisp, could not cut them. Veg ok but very small portions.... More

Turned up here for a drink, however managed to get a table due to a cancellation. This place was a major highlight to our weekend away! Beautiful setting, cosy bar, and the food was amazing, don't know how this place doesn't have a Michelin star.

Booked in for one night, B&B plus dinner. Food very excellent, staff superb. On arrival, visited the small bar area to be met by the strong odour of wet dogs x 4. Almost decided to leave but remained in area away from the kennels. Another great place being jeopardised by inconsiderate canine owners. Apparently less than 25 % of the... More

My wife to be and me stumbled on to this pub around about 1975 after some recomendations from fellow campers on a local camp site.after an hours trek we found it along with old stone floors and rickety old tables and a blazing fire it was the most welcome pub i have ever visited.the menu consisted of chicken or scampi... Been coming here for 20 years. This place is a legend- people seek it out far and wide. A warm welcome - lots of real ale and a great selection of wines by the glass- some niche so the entire wine list is worth perusing. Decent amount of off road parking and the place is non fussy re muddy walking... More

Last went here 25 years ago . It was excellent then and is excellent now. A bowl of gumbo will keep you going all day. Exquisite location. Beautiful countryside. Well worth a detour.

Friendly staff & a lovely lunch all freshly made. We were a party of 8 but you cannot book a lunch time table. It was quite busy when we arrived but the staff sorted out a large table for us.
