Spent a great time (3 separate occasions) at the best bar by far in Grasmere, if you love real ale, (not for lager boys!)

We both had fish, chips and peas. My partner enjoyed hers but I do find this is yet another place that have shrunk their mushy peas portion to that normally received as a portion of chutney. The batter was also quite oily.

Great atmosphere of a traditional pub with a good selection of real ales, just what you need after a walk. The food is nice and the service is friendly.

A restuarant offering character and in a secluded spot in Grasmere village. Good and varied menu left us with no problems making selection. Good bar facilities.

Very good pub meals. Same food menu is served either in a restaurant setting or the pub. Both areas are very comfortable. Typical pub fare with daily specials, quick, efficient and quality food. Humongus selection of beers!

Thoroughly satisfying mix of meals from an interesting menu. Lamb was to die for. Fish beautiful. Kids meals great. Atmosphere and decor fantastic. Only one quibble - veal burger was overdone and hence tough. Great flavour though

The range of real ales is phenomenal, and they are complemented by a fascinating list of unusual bottled beers from many parts of the world. The menu offers plenty of hearty main course dishes. We ate a good smoked haddock risotto, classic fish and chips...More
