Called in for lunch with the family. Good choice on the menu. Absolutely excellent service from the very polite staff. Food was home cooked and very tasty. Excellent price.

On a day trip literally found this eaterie and took a chance. We had meat and potato pie with mushy peas homemade and tasted delicious . Good service. Popular with locals as it was fairly busy.

After looking for somewhere for lunch with one of us being vegetarian- decided to go here and we were not disappointed. Warm welcome and the friendliest staff awaited. The food was varied and specials on offer too. We ordered Jacket Potato; Steak Pies; Fish Dinner and Veg Burrito - all were excellent. We even treated ourselves to deserts of carrot... More

I have reviewed this excellent, no-nonsense bistro several times before and the standards this time were as high as ever. As usual, I had the steak pie and chips. My friend chose the nut roast. Both were served with an array of well-cooked vegetables and my chips were crisp and delicious. What's more, I found that they positively welcome dogs... More

My friend and I walked to Pumpkins after having a horrible food experience in Jintana Thai restaurant across the road. Whilst having a lovely pot of tea in Pumpkins I suddenly became terribly ill. The staff were outstanding and couldn't do enough for me. No pressure to leave even though they were closing. I will visit Pumpkins again when in... More

Following a long drive up to Kendal, we dropped into this bistro for a quick bite to eat. Very friendly welcome by lovely staff, venue full of equally friendly locals. The leek & potato soup and the vegetable soup were delicious, proper home cooked food at reasonable prices, possibly some of the nicest and tastiest soups ever eaten. Super quick... More

We stopped for lunch on a cold drizzly day and were tempted by the beautiful parsnip soup and a round of sandwiches washed down with copious amounts of tea! Lovely atmosphere with some of the friendliest staff ever.

Good food cooked well and served quickly. They will reduce portion sizes for children as well as there being a good kid's menu.
