Gorgeous food. Today's vegetable soup was fantastic. Alas, too far say and lunch times aren't long enough !

Great selection of very interesting dishes. My beetroot and feta warm salad with a spicy lentil and mushroom side bowl was a highlight. Soups were excellent. Healthy food, friendly service, excellent coffee. Want to return to try more dishes.

I'vebeen eating in this little hidden gem in Kendal for a few years now and all ways love my visits. toward the end of last year the soya hot chocolate was not as good as it used to be and i mentioned this at Christmas to one of the friendly full time staff there. Firstly she apologized and refused to... More

Popped in during a busy Saturday lunchtime, had to wait 10 mins for a table which is a good sign. Interesting menu, could eat here daily as there was lots to choose from. I tried Cabanos - yummy! All the family tried different things. Best part was not getting fleeced on the way out.

We walked past this place on Saturday and it was so full we guessed it must be good - we were right. Soup and a sandwich on a cold winters Saturday, perfect. There are many options on the menu including hot and cold sandwiches, 3 different soups and a specials board. We didn't try the cakes but they looked good!

This place is a good find & was very busy on our visit. We had a lovely bowl of cauliflower soup, with a nice chunk of bread, & we also shared a coronation chicken bun, served with salad & crisps. Service was good & staff were friendly. Looked like some nice cakes too, but we were a bit full, maybe... More

Head off the beaten track to the bottom of the alley for The Canteen, right on the corner, and step up into the bright space for comfort food with a middle eastern style - if you want - or just lashings of Lakeland cakes, flapjacks etc. No Babaganoush was on offer at the time of our visit so we had... Met my sister and brother in-law for lunch. They live in Kendal so know this restaurant well. What a cool place with a menu that is quirky and varied, they also have a specials board daily. Loved my food a bowl of bolognese and eggy welsh rarebit. Scrumptious scrumptious scrumptious i can't rate it highly enough. It does get very... More

We struggled to choose what to have as everything is familiar yet original - cheese on toast, soups, sandwiches, etc. However you can have the cheese on toast (Welsh rarebit) with bacon jam! And the soup came with chilli and cheese bread (or not, if you prefer plain). A fabulous hot chocolate too. All reasonable prices. Disappointed I don't live... More
