This was our first time trying Okonomi Yaki and it was a great experience. They cooked the food at your table and watching them preparing the pancakes just adds to the experience. We tried 2 different types to share and they were both excellent. Definitely worth a visit. It's not your typical Japanese restaurant and if you are in London... More

Always great to be introduced to a new treat. Okonmiyaki are a fantastic Japanese savoury pancake. This great little restaurant was a superb setting . The table hotplate allowed the server to cook the pancakes at the table. The range on offer all looked very good . The Sapporo version was fantastic. Excellent sake and whiskeys too. A very special... More

Food and Service were a 5-star experience. Worth finding it and eating there often. It will be a regular stop on all our visits to London!

We ordered the main dish and it wasn't a disappointment. In fact it recommended and make sure then add the veg/fruit sauce because it AMAZING. The staff are friendly and entertaining. They cook over your table and balance interactive and cooking. Well recommended, no booking required. We order: Ebi Itame Onigiri Shake Okonomi-yaki: Shinshu Mix Om-Soba: Prawn Was enough for... I was spending the day at the British Museum and decided to try Abeno for lunch which is just around the corner in Museum Street. Miso soup, a Osaki Mix (pork, prawns and kimuchi) plus a beer, and the tip, was under £20.00. An okonomi-yaki is made with cabbage, egg and dough with spring onions, pickled ginger and morsels of... Couldn't fault this place at all - service and food was excellent. My third visit here and each time has been perfect. The sense of theatre with the food being prepared at your hot plate table is entertaining. Lunch special for £14 includes a okonomi-yaki, miso soup & daily side... you have the option of increasing the pancake to a... More

Great meal as ever. Our children love Okonomiyaki but the Gyoza and age dashi dofu were just as delicious. Lovely friendly service and lots of fun. Don't be afraid if you are an Okonomiyaki Newby they'll help you.

We have never had an Okonomiyaki before but had seen it being made on NHK channel and looked very interesting. We had a good experience. The person cooking for us seemed like a very young student and a bit nervous but did a good job. We had good service but I noticed that the people on the table next to... More

We loved everything about Abeno! Firstly, although we hadn't booked, they were very accommodating and were able to fit us in later that evening. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Having the food cooked on the hotplate in front of us was a really great experience - I know people here have complained about the cooking smell on... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
