I live locally so I've tired this place a few times. It's such a lovely atmosphere with so much potential but I've had pretty average food here several times. On the last occasion all 6 of us had disappointing lunches, the croque monsieur was soggy, the fish cakes over cooked, the burger dry, fish finger sandwich possibly from iceland. I... More

A good choice for breakfast. Plenty to choose from a good breakfast menu. Friendly staff and good food. A little chaotic and rustic so don't go if you're looking for fine dinning.

We've been going to Cafe Provencal since the children were small and demanding their garlic chips as a reward for sitting still! Now the "children" are in their late 20s, we still go to Cafe Prov. The new layout is great and makes the atmosphere even more intimate. The new sharing platters are excellent value and full of tasty things.... More

We went there for brunch and got the vegan breakfast, eggs benedict, a soy capuccino and a freshly squeezed orange juice. The vegan breakfast was ordinary at best. Plating was poor and not terribly appetising and one piece of toast, for which they provided butter - this was supposed to be vegan. I went home afterwards and had something else... More

You're always guaranteed a friendly welcome and good food here. They also treat the staff well - kept on paying them when the restaurant was closed by the flood a few years back, and seem also to genuinely value their customers as well. To be honest, if you're in Herne Hill and you're looking for somewhere to eat or have... More

As above. If there's something simple you fancy that isn't on the menu they are happy to accommodate (within reason). Free wifi. Would definitely recommend!

Have been faithful to this since the early 90s, and still love it. Feels like a second home, and a big favourite with my kids too

The food was delicious and generously portioned. The service was very friendly. The only downside would be the noise of the road but if you sit further into the café this isn't a problem and the ambience is lovely.

Popped in for a light lunch, scrumptious samphire! Lovely ambiance & nicely tucked away. Will be back :)
