Loved the meal this evening at Mar I Terra. We had aubergines, patatas pobre, tabla Ibericos, etc and it was most delicious. Lovely selection of wine as well. Would totally come back for another visit!

I'm really surprised at some of the other reviews. I've been twice - once as part of a party of 20 people, a year ago, and this weekend for my birthday - four of us. Both times we really enjoyed it. I spend a lot of time in southern spain so I know my tapas pretty well and this place... More

went for lunch, food OK, menu choice OK, suggestion for the restaurant would be to improve service, you could have sold us lots more drinks and food, but you never came and asked, nor did you ask any of our party if anyone else would like any drinks when one of group ordered a drink. Overall OK.

I arrived at 7.30and my daughter came soon afterwards. We ordered a bottle of wine and six tapas, which all came very quickly. We were in no hurry and were enjoying each other's company. Suddenly the owner turned up at our table and told us that we should leave immediately as we werent consuming anything. He was unbelievably rude and... More

A nice tapas bar tucked away down a narrow street, can be difficult to locate but well worth the effort. My only complaints would be that the lunchtime menu was a bit limited and somewhat pricey.

Jolly service, reliable food. Our cheerful waiter recommended a wine which was spot on. Ordered a second. Attentive, unfussy service of quality tapas. Attractive bar and room and all round convivial atmosphere. Cheese plate god if a little cold - perhaps try don't get many orders of this and leave the cheese in the fridge? Still, definitely worth a second... More

Enjoyed a really good tapas meal - a real find if you enjoy Spanish food - proper tapas and a really good selection. Worth going off the beaten track - visited on a Saturday - busy but nice atmosphere and good service.

Make sure you book in advance!! We had, otherwise I don't think there was any chance of getting in. High quality food - all of our dishes were fabulous in a lovely environment. Staff all keen to make sure your experience was a good one. We were just two of us and after a late big breakfast had 6 dishes... More

A genuine Spanish experience. We had a fairly full lunch here - two of us shared garbanzos, papas bravas, fabada, piquillos con cangrejo, followed by torta de Santiago and turrón, with manzanilla and house wine -= all very good (the garbanzos were really excellent). Service was prompt, efficient and very friendly. A bit expensive for what it was, but worth... More

I love this place and keep going back there. The food is great - particularly the octopus!! The service is always incredibly efficient and friendly so makes for an enjoyable meal. It is a little pricey for what you get. There is a cute courtyard out the back for the summer.

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
