I was taken to the Grill for Mother's Day by my children. The menu was really varied and caters for Gluten Free. I had the roast lamb dinner which was delicious - but arrived with no parsnips as stated on the menu. Once I pointed this out it was swiftly resolved by giving us an extra side dish. My daughter... Sharing a 34 oz rib eye and drinking red are two of my favourite activities which this week were made all the better at the Hox. Great company, great menu advice and a lovely atmosphere made for a great pre-theatre dinner. I love the Hox anyway, but the steak was magnificent and the wine served at the perfect temperature. Other... More

Disappointing. Or worse. We were expecting more because of great reviews but they must have been focused on ambience - which it certainly has. Very nice location and space. Service is good too. But the food was unenjoyable, especially the mains - ribs, chicken and skirt. Lacking in interesting taste. No cohesion as a plate. And the drink is expensive.... More

Dear Vickioz Thank you for your comments made about our atmosphere, service and food. It is unfortunate that our food lacked taste and cohesion; We pride ourselves on quality ingredients, simplicity and taste. We recently changed our meat supplier to improve the flavour of our skirt steak; we also put a lot of effort and care into our ribs (18hrs)... More

A friend and I met for a mid week lunch here. I asked for a table in the conservatory only to arrive and find out there was a private party. I asked the waitress if the cobb salad had a creamy dressing and she said no, olive oil. It came smothered in a creamy dressing. When I asked for some... More

Dear Lauren I feel embarrassed that you were misinformed about the Cobb salad and is certainly not the normal response when requesting lemon juice and receiving more buttermilk dressing!. We generally pride ourselves in knowledgeable, swift and sharp service; on this occasion we failed- miserably. Through more training, food tastings and quizzes we are confident we will not make the... More

Myself and 12 team members from my company went to The Hoxton Grill for breakfast last Thursday. Great food and excellent service all round. Will hopefully be back in the not too distant future!

Ordered from the 'grill' menu and thought I'd try the aubergine steak - not a good choice. It sounded interesting with tahini sauce and tasted ok, except from being too charred/burned, but it would hardly have been enough food for a starter, let alone a main course. One slice of an aubergine seemed a joke. Added an apple cobbler as... More

My son and his partner booked for their parents to pay. We had a great time, it's a very fun place to meet friends for a drink and a bite. The food quality was generally very good, I particularly enjoyed the clam chowder, and my wife loved the sea bass. Two of us ordered burgers, and they were nothing special,... More

Had been meaning to eat here for ages but sadly was very disappointed by the food and would not go back to eat. The atmosphere is great, very busy and buzzing, ideal for after work drinks with friends at the bar. The waiting staff in the restaurant were friendly (more so than bar staff) but the food did not meet... More

Visited late last year. Upon arrival I was told that a few of their menu items were unavailable. Too late to find another place so we thought whats the worse that can happen? Our waiter (dark haired, quite big ) was very blunt and rude. Whenever he could not hear us he would reply with "what?". I ended up settling... More

Staying in Shoreditch

Neighbourhood Profile
The western front of the edgy East End, Shoreditch is a perennially trendy haven for anything “street” – be it art, food, or fashion. With its handful of well connected transportation links dotting its perimeter, along with an ever increasing variety of shops, hotels, bars, and restaurants, it's easy to explore this trend-conscious and youth-oriented neighbourhood. There's a lingering post-industrial grit about Shoreditch, but because it shares a border with “The City” financial district, the influence from its upscale neighbour can result in fascinating outcomes.
