A traditional pub on Gray's Inn Road about half way between Kings Cross and Chancery Lane stations. No frills, great staff and wonderful food at real prices.

Popped in on the off chance and found a good proper London boozer with great food on offer. Good beer, good food, excellent staff, what more could one ask for?

This is a very old pub which does not look anything from the outside. However they were offering Sunday roast dinner for 7.25. Well it was well worth the money. It is a pub with a bot of atmosphere and has a good choice of...More

The Calthorpe is a quintessential no frills pub offering up comfort food at cheap prices compared to other nearby pubs. The fish and chips is good but the steak sandwich is light on filling!

This was possibly the cheapest Sunday roast in central London. The nearest Underground (tube) stations are King’s Cross, Russell Square and Chancery Lane - all about 10-15 minutes walk. It was definitely worth the effort. The blackboard gave your options - our choices were roast...More

Stumbled upon this place after the post museum. What a find! Great drink, food up to a high standard, good prices and what I think one could call, genuine Londoners as locals. They had all grown up around there. No Mockneys seen here!

Tried the Sunday roast in my local for the first time today. The plate was loaded with TEN different veg, and cracking Yorkshire pud, and it was less than half the price of any other pub roast in the area (£6.95). If you like your...More

We stopped in here after visiting the Charles Dickens Museum. We had beer, but didn't eat. This is a local pub, not touristy at all. A local lady asked us if we were on holiday-- yes-- and she told us some of the history of...More

We had lunch here before visiting the Postal Museum. It is a lovely old style locals pub with friendly bar staff and clientele. The food menu is not extensive but there is a specials board and there are vegetarian options. The portion sizes are large.

This was our first visit to the Calthorpe Arms. We went for lunch before visiting the Postal Museum nearby. As others have said, this is a traditional pub, so the decor is a bit dated, but homely. The beer was really well kept and tasty...More

Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site
of an ancient meat market which remains in operation
today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally
renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and
some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a
focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough
time wondering through the area's maze of streets and
you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky
