Being offered the worse table in the house is acceptable sometimes when the restaurant is packed, but when you are only given that option because you're a solo diner is infuriating. This appears to be the policy at Melanie's also where the service can be...More

Pre theatre supper on the hottest day of the year, unfortunately no aircon and although the windows on the front open not a lot of air about, totally not the restaurant's fault and on any normal English summer evening would be perfect. My husband and...More

We visited this place between Harry Potter plays. The food was very average - the pizzas mostly inedible because of the soggy cheese used. The staff were friendly but clearly overworked and it took ages to get their attention just to get a glass of...More

Our evening in Melanies was quite funny due to the.view outside, looking at the entrance of SOHO region. The restaurant has nice open italian atmosphere, also clean. The food was good, but contained a large amount of salt, dissapointing due to that.

An Italian restaurant out of the ordinary, Melanies specialises in Neapolitan food, setting it apart from the numerous other dining rooms in Londons central Soho area. Located on the notorious Old Compton Street, close to Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and the numerous theatres and cinemas the West End has to offer, Melanies is easy to spot thanks to its large awning proudly displaying the red, green and white of the Italian flag. Inside, youll find a dining room clad in much light wood and full of light, traditional, simple and comfortable in its dcor. In the kitchen, the focus is very much on the use of good ingredients, the chefs sourcing local and seasonal produce for their classic Neapolitan dishes. Youll recognise many of Melanies offerings, from favourite pizzas to well known pasta dishes, but youll also be tempted to try the specialties of the house which include the typical ingredients of Naples and the surrounding countryside and have roots in the Greco-Roman period.
