Located in East London from the 18th century, but nowadays it is a busy place with good music and great beers. Also if you have previously read the story, when you go down to the toilettes, you can imagine that you will find Jack the Ripper ....

Typical, traditional, even historical pub. Plenty of beers to choose from, swift service, loud crowd, great people watching, especially outside.

We went on pub quiz night, which was a blast. A good selection of beers, very friendly staff and decent pub grub at a reasonable brief. You can pack in downstairs or get a bit more space upstairs.

I'm going to be honest with you. The pub has a glorious advantage over it's neighbouring rivals because of the historical links in the area. Needless to say however, we went in and the place was heaving, but the staff behind the bar were working away trying to serve as many people as possible and we got served very quickly.... More

Visited this pub a few times over the years, most recently last Friday afternoon. Plenty of real ales which suit me down to the ground and a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. Been a pub for years and done out in a lovely Victorian style, the place has loads of history. Jack the Ripper used to stalk some of his victims from... More

Great London pub opposite Spitalfields Market. Built in the 18th century and originally called The Eight Bells Inn, 2 more were added later thus it became The Ten Bells. During a period in the late 20th century it was renamed The Jack the Ripper due to two of the women who were murdered by Jack the Ripper drinking there. The... More

Great Pub, situated in a prime location, the atmosphere of the pub is electric, with the dim lightbulbs and candle light, a trip to The 10 Bells is an excellent way to finish a long day or even a jack the ripper tour like we did. Great selection of drinks for reasonable prices would highly recommend

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighbourhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
