My friend and I were wandering through Mayfair and came across this hotel. We thought it looked 'old-world' and elegant so decided to head to the bar for a drink. We ordered a glass of champagne each and they served it with a trio of snacks on a gorgeous little tray. We sat back in the plush chairs and managed... More

Thought we would give this a second chance as the first visit was not the best. Food was very good but felt we had been put in a corner and forgotten. So was disappointed again. Sorry to say we won't be returning

The hotel is tucked away in Mayfair. Good first impressions with a very warm welcome from the doorman. The look of the hotel is of an older style property (80s or 90s) trading on past glory although kept in an ok condition. We were seated in the conservatory which lacked a little of the atmosphere to start with but got... More

Went for a birthday celebration afternoon tea and had a wonderful time. The Willy Wonka theme is great fun and the food and different teas were scrumptious. All the staff were extremely friendly and the customer service excellent. William ensured everything was to our liking. We will definitely go back.

Expected a bit more based on reviews, however the meal was normal. Salad with beans and squash was not good, codfish was ok and the dessert (brownie with caramel) was better then other desserts.

Great choice of food, excellent service, it seemed nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely be giving dinner a try on our next visit.

Description
"Listed in Tattlers restaurant guide 2007 under the Best of British section, Butlers Restaurant is part of the Chesterfield Hotel just off Berkley Square in the heart of Mayfair. The décor of rich reds and greens with English oil paintings is perfect for romantic dinners as well as being superb for discreet business meetings. The Sunday lunch in Butler’s restaurant is still a firm favourite, where you can enjoy succulent rib of beef from the carving trolley or a delightful trio of crème brulée. Staff are friendly in a relaxed yet formal atmosphere.

What’s cooking? Modern British fare such as calves liver and bacon with caramelised shallots and mash potato or whole Dover sole grilled and served with sauce hollandaise, witch is famed for being the best in London. Some real old time tempters for desert such as sticky toffee pudding, honeycomb ice cream, butterscotch cheese cake, all made by their own pastry chef."

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
