We had Sunday lunch here today - and waited about an hour and 30 minutes for the food to arrive despite repeated requests for them to speed things along. We should have started to worry when it took 20 minutes or more for them to delver a couple of drinks when we arrived. The staff are just too focussed on... More

Had Sunday lunch at the pub. I was served a very small amount of meat (especially considering the price), however the staff kindly gave me some extra beef when requested. Generally a nice pub and friendly staff.

Visitors to the area, we were taken by the "unlimited mussells and frites" sign out on the street, so came back for dinner. The friendly, comfortable ambience expected in a London suburban pub was present and the service was very good but as the crowd increased it was clear that for one reason or another it was a short-staffed night.... We struggled to book online, left a phone message, and when we got to the Star, walking past Highgate Cemetery, they had kept a table. Guests seemed to be mainly 30-somethings, many having birthday suppers. The music was fairly deafening to start with, but unnoticeable once the place was full. (Too noisy for an afternoon drink with your paper, though,... More

Booked for our staff Christmas party. Erik, the Manager, was extremely helpful and always available beforehand to tweek the menu options and accommodate the different allergies. Food and service excellent. Will definitely book again.

We went to The Star with family for a pre Christmas celebration with family. The three course Christmas menu offered a choice of four starters, main courses and dessert including a vegetarian option. At a cost of £31.50 it was on the expensive side but this is London prices. The wine list was extensive and the Malbec at £24 was... More

Dinner for 3. We had not booked, arrived by 7 pm early August, there was space inside. Dining is inside or in a quaint beer garden. The dining room is spacious and has a good feel to it, with high ceilings and large windows all around. The bar is in there. There is a piano in a corner - they... More

We had our Wedding Reception upstairs in their function room. My husband and I organised our wedding reception ourselves for 40 our guests, so we absolutely loved being able to go to the venue the night before our wedding to decorate the room the way we wanted it to be decorated. The room was lovely and clean. The staff were... More

Slight hiding away amongst the backstreets of Highgate, The Star is arguably one of its hidden gems and is better known to its locals than to those who may be travelling in the area. It's a refreshing environment to come across, whose charm and individuality will surely sway most of its visitors.
