There is something about this sauce, the perfectly cooked filet, the crispy thin fries that come after the overture of the fresh salad with the strong but delicious dressing, that really captivates your culinary imagination despite its simplicity. This delicious but expensive meal is worth paying a visit to one of London's Relais de Venise.

I lived in Paris 25 years ago and loved the Relais De Venise in Rue Maboeuf and never thought I would find a place like that in London but they have exported the concept and I still adore it. The formula has stayed the same-simple green salad with walnuts and French mustard dressing. Steak with a mustard sauce and frites... More

Visited here in a Friday evening expecting it to be extremely busy but we only had a small wait. The salad had been dressed with too much mustard which some in our party found difficult to finish, also the salad didn't seem fresh, but perhaps that was due to arriving a little later in the evening. Steak was, as usual... More

The steaks frites and sauce is really delicious. House red wine is fantastic. Deserts are fresh and tasty. Service is really friendly with a big smile. Only downside is quantity of steaks served, could be better with a little bit more!

Can't fault it! It is what it is: a genius combination of mouth-water entrecotes with fries and a feel of a little cosy french eatery on a small cobble street round the corner from the Champs Elysees, but in London. Beautiful.

Not sure what they put in the secret steak sauce, but I need a fix from this place from time to time. And it's always excellent. Simple, steak and chips using excellent entrecôte. Nice house red too. And great staff. Only quibble - sometimes there's a bit too much dressing on the salad. But still gets 5 stars.

The que outside makes the place more desired and wanted that it should be. Steaks ave quite ok, considering the price(£24 for steak with salad and fries) its really good value.

If you're in the mood for steak and excellent frites, this is a nice choice. Nothing else on the menu but it's preceded by a lettuce salad with walnuts, probably toasted as flavour very good, and good bread. Is it the generous effect of the second helpings offered which customers love? Surrounding tables, on a chilly day, were loving it... More

Any place you have to queue has got to be good! There is only one choice on the menu but first class food. Fresh bread and caesar salad as starter and steak and chips with a delightful sauce with seconds once your plate is empty. House red wine was good and helpful staff.

Thank Philip I

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
