Meraz cafe serves authentic Indian and Banglesdeshi curry zinging with flavour. The menu consists largely of dishes you won't find in your standard curry house - no korma, no vindaloo - this is real curry presented in a totally unpretentious setting by lovely staff that never pressure you, unlike many of the rivals on the main strip of Brick Lane.... On a cold night in East London there was a warm welcome at Meraz Cafe! It's more of a cafe than a restaurant experience but nothing wrong with that and the food is great, lots of dishes that you'd expect and lots of other different ones too. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Would I go again... but of course, yes!

We were a lively group celebrating a retirement and this was a recommended option. Very good value for tasty food. BYO also helps if you are on a tight budget. Staff were patient and it felt welcoming.

Excellent food and friendly staff. I had the beef dish with boiled rice and it was beautifully tender. My partner had the lamb tikka biriani which went down a real treat.

We absolutely love this place. It was the best surprise - great curry, friendly staff and a very relaxed atmosphere. It was full and I see why.

The food is the highlight of this restaurant. The joint itself is at the most basic but comfortable. We shared the veggie appetizer platter, two small veggieeu>jl) lplaces - channa masala, sag also and lamb Biryanni. The waiter also brought out some papadams with chutneys. All yummy and tasty. Service was good, helpful, attentive and knowledgeable.

I don't live in London anymore but Meraz cafe just popped to mind. I thought I might write as a note to anybody travelling or local to the area. I used to live on Hanbury street where there are millions of options in the brick lane area. In short, this was always the place I came to as it was... More

We ate at Meraz twice a few days apart and on both occasions the food was excellent. Great unhurried service and we highly recommend this restaurant.

Nice Small Restaurant with nice staff. Not as touristic as in brick lane. Good food. When we were here most customers were locals. Always a good sign.

I get to London 1-2 times per year and continue to visit the Cafe on each trip ever since coming to the Cafe for the first time in 2014. The food continues to be best....great flavor with great spice....the perfect balance! Shamim (the owner) and his staff are continuing to do a great job of consistently offering wonderful great food... More

Description
The Meraz philosophy has not changed since 1974, it remains one of respect for cooking tradition, from which is born a consistency and an aversion to fads that is greatly appreciated by all. A respect for the patron's palate and comfort, innovating and striving to bring the best in service, atmosphere and presentation, and a passion for introducing Handi Cooked Foods to an ever growing audience.Unusual for Brick Lane, Meraz encourages BYOB.

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighbourhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
