Had a meal here with friends last night before a concert at the Eventim Apollo. The London Kindred is a bit of a hidden gem. The service is exceptional (Denitsa is lovely). This was a very weird experience. Booked the restaurant a few days beforehand for 8 p.m., Saturday evening. At 7:30 they called to see if we were coming. I had assumed it was because they were rushed off their feet but on arrival realised it...was our booking stopping them going home early. There was one couple finishing a meal and a man sat on his own on a laptop without seemingly either a drink or food. We were shown to our table but given only one menu. The drinks menu offered champagne by the glass so we ordered two glasses. We were informed that they had run out of the champagne by the glass but we could have a bottle. I spent a little while questioning how they could run out of it by the glass but still have it by the bottle. Eventually the waitress went away and sent another member of staff who explained that they didn't sell this any longer by the glass and it wasn't an option because the rest of the bottle wouldn't get drunk. We ordered the bottle and we drank it all. But the first explanation was just bad. We ordered our starters and mains and were asked if we wanted them at the same time. Obviously we didn't. When the food arrived it was really good. Halfway through the starter they offered to bring the main course - we asked them to wait until we had finished. This place is hugely underrated for the quality of its food. The food was really excellent. However while we were enjoying our main course, it was now 8:45, we were asked if we wanted any dessert and to order there and then because the kitchen wanted to go home. This was a Saturday evening. I understood why they wanted to go home. I guess I kind of understood why they wanted us to have the starter and the main at the same time. I just felt so sorry for them. The service is weird but the food is great. Until they fix the service this place won't take off. The chef deserves better than this. We went elsewhere for dessert. I bet Kindred's dessert would have been great. But all in all it felt like a bad experience.More

Denes who was managing the bar all night was phenomenal. This guy can make you any cocktail, mocktail under the sun. Great friendly manner and definitely the man I would have managing my bar! Thank you Denes
