Hired Pause Bar with a friend to celebrate our 30th's on a Saturday night.. The venue itself is fantastic, with a huge selection of drinks available - they also do special requests and bottle/ table service, which made the bar feel like our own club. The prices for the drinks are very reasonable too, given they are based in the... More

Went with my son who had been before and I was pleasantly surprised. I expected some trendy, yes, but expensive dive type bar. In fact the prices were in most cases cheaper than i can find down in Cornwall. The food was great too. Well cooked and a good size helping. If you find yourself in london at lunch time... More

I booked the table for my birthday, but the manager did not consider to inform me, that the place is booked for a private party, so WE HAVE BEEN ASKED TO LEAVE at 9pm. Not to mention about the Nachos with cheese WITHOUT CHEESE!!! £11 for that come on !!! 0 points for manager, the staff was very nice though....

I reserved an area at Pause for having some 30th birthday drinks. The Manager was very helpful with my booking and I pre-ordered the food and some drinks for when my guests arrived. The area I reserved was at the back of the room and it was perfect. Large roomy area with plenty of comfortable seating. The only small downside... More

Visited here for lunch - menu pretty varied and the daily specials very good value at £6. My main could have been served slightly warmer but all in all an OK lunch. Venue was quiet but this might have been as it was a nice day and this venue underground is underground so may not be peoples first choice.

Our team frequent this bar fairly regularly, mainly because of the convenient location to our office. The food is very well priced and the service is usually fine. The decor seems to change quite often without noticable improvement. It's not great on a summer's day, being a basement bar with no natural light and also, it's not really "across the... More

5 of us visited Pause at lunch with visitors from India. We chose the restaurant for it's close proximity to our office and previous pleasant dining experience. This turned out to be a mistake. The good things - friendly (slightly inexperienced) waitress. Good platter selection for starter (we chose Vegetarian and Oriental). Yummy desserts. Nice ambience in restaurant (if slightly... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
