I have been to the Old Bank Of England several times now. It’s a historic building, nice atmosphere and the staff are always friendly. Unfortunately, it really falls down badly in terms of the food. The main focal point of the menu are the pies, which they push very hard indeed; it’s difficult to understand why when you order one,... More

The clue is in the title. Have been visiting TOBOE for years. It's a large space, with fantastic ornate decor from its previous existance as (funnily enough) a bank. The oblong shaped bar occupies a central area and there is therefore plenty of space to get served, and then to retreat to a quieter area. There's also a gallery floor... More

Visited on a Friday evening for a drink and wow what a setting. Lovely central bar with huge ceiling chandeliers...great character. A plaque states that Sweeny Todd's barber shop was next door and his victims were "processed" for pies in the basement...so a great bit of history.

Came across this beauty of a pub a few weeks back. Went in for the first time yesterday on a pub crawl around pubs we'd never visited before. This one must be one of the most beautiful pubs in the country!! There's a good selection of beers and pilsners. We will have to sample the food some other time though,... More

Went with a number of friend for lunch. We did book in advance. The steak pie was okay but the club sandwiches were excellent. We were shown the bank vaults which was great

We reserved a table and served by Julian who could not have been more attentive and polite. London Pride was good but the food was pretty average, I had Madrass pie which was small and mostly crust, then, and this is my pet hate, NO LOCK on the gents, we spent over £100 and a £2 lock on the gents... We paid £5 for a tea and coffee and both were awful. Nice interior though...and worth a visit but the teas/coffee should be avoided.

Had lunch here through the week, nice place, staff very friendly and helpful and we all enjoyed our food, my only criticism's would be (and this is the same for all places who do this) please please stop serving food on wooden boards!! It's unnecessary and not practical! And secondly the standard of the toilets was poor, a toilet seat... More

Having taken a lovely walk around The Strand, Inns of Court and iconic views from the Embankment, a stop for a sandwich lunch at Old Bank of England was just the ticket. Full of history and set in the heart of London's Fleet Street we enjoyed: club sandwiches, salmon and cream cheese on wheat and melted brie and grape on... More
