Went for dinner on a weekday night arriving at 8.15pm. They only accept reservations for groups of 6 or more people, so as we were 2 people we joined the queue outside. It was March and really cold, so I guess it´s a nice touch that they offer the people queuing a glass of hot mint tea, or sherry. We... More

1. Reservations. Without them, you have a long wait. We booked a table for 6--and with this reservation we were magically whisked to out table upon arrival. 2. Willingness to share dishes. The dishes are not large, but are tasteful. 3. An understanding of history. I read a review about the dish names ("how could it be called Chicken Ruby??").... More

The one thing every Londoner knows about Dishoom is that you have to queue to get in. Having visited this weekend, and watched how the restaurant operates, I came away with the belief that they work that queue as if maintaining it is the most important part of their business! When we arrived they said it would be a maximum... More

Visited Dishoom for a birthday meal. We had a reservation so avoided the long queue in the cold for a table. Even with a reservation the doorman was reluctant to let us in straight away. It seems like the wait is part of the experience. Our waiter suggest we order food to share and warned us food arrived as it... More

Dishoom is one restaurant that we will visit every time we travel to London. If we lived in London we would visit it every week! From the moment you enter until the time you leave you are transported into a magical world. The restaurant was filled with happy customers and a lot of laughter. The whole place is eclectic- the... I am a fan of Dishoom and was not disappointed as always the service is great. We went on a Saturday at 2.00 my advice - book! this place gets busy and you don't want to be outside waiting in line for a table. They have such a variety of dishes and the bottomless chai is yummy... Lunchtime must for... More

I got to the restaurant after receiving a wonderful recommendation. I was amazed from the food (and I don't even like Indian food 😀). The atmosphere and the team were amazing as well. Don't miss eating here!

This was my third time at Dishoom - the first two visits were at the Kings Cross location. This time, I was traveling with my wife and was excited to share the experience with her. The food, as usual, was amazing. The prawn special was one of the best dishes that I've ever had and the chicken ruby and garlic... More

We visited Dishoom yesterday for my husbands birthday lunch for the first time and the service was brilliant throughout and staff went the extra mile to make it special for us. We will definitely be returning in the future to try more of the menu and highly recommend to all!

Description
The original Bombay cafes have almost all disappeared. Their faded elegance welcomed all: rich businessmen, sweaty taxi-wallas and courting couples. Fans turned slowly. Bentwood chairs were reflected in stained mirrors, next to sepia family portraits. Students had breakfast. Families dined. Lawyers read briefs. Writers found their characters. Opened early last century by Zoroastrian immigrants from Iran, there were almost four hundred cafes at their peak in the 1960s. Now, fewer than thirty remain. Their loss is much mourned by Bombayites.
