We visited this tavern a couple of times over 3 days. Unfortunately for us, both times were very busy which showed its huge popularity and is situated in a great location. At busy times, such as our visit, don’t expect to sit at a table if you’re not eating food. If you do sit down when someone has finished, the... More

We decided to stop into the St. Stephen's Tavern since we were passing by Big Ben, and the pub is located across the street. The atmosphere in the pub is really nice and the staff was friendly; however, we were disappointed with the food. My husband order fish and chips and every bite of fish had a bone in it.... More

We have been there twice in few days, and we have been spending a good time: nice food (don't expect exceptional plates), nice atmosphere, and very crowdy (but this is the fun). Prices are not high.

I've been here twice, actually. The first time was some years ago and with some friends. We had burgers, the best I ever had! This time we went for more typical english meal and we had fish&chips and pies. They were really tasty! Really good quality of the food!

Stopped here on a night while walking around Westminster - there really is hardly any food options around this area which I thought was interesting - We were there close to closing time and were starving - a lot of employees were busy cleaning - we sat in the upstairs part. Very nice place in terms of decor and ambience.... More

It's telling that all the locals here are standing at the bar having afternoon beers and only tourists are sitting, eating the Fish and Chips. Very small tables for sitting and you have to order at the bar and pay in advance. Maybe there is something authentic about that but it struck me as a just a lack of service.... More

After a long day of sightseeing we wanted something to eat. Arrived to this pub at about 6.30pm and there was no one upstairs in the dining area. Ordered a starter of plaice goujons with tartare sauce with a side of chips as chicken goujons were sold out. The 6 goujons arrived , nicely presented, but they were not plaice,... More

Visited here after a visit to London eye & before London dungeons.. was looking for glass wine & a pub lunch. When we arrived I felt to turn around & walk back out! It is a tiny pub, very intermit & very small eating area. The pub in it self is a nice little pub with some true London charter.... More

We popped in St. Stephens after our visit to the houses of Parliament. Great little pub - we tried the Badger Beer and the fish and chips - all was quite good.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
