Loved this place for chilled out cocktails, lovely decor and fab service. Drinks were nice and strong and of course very good. I was tipsy after one drink so money well spent. Will definitely pop in for drinks again.

The service was efficient and friendly, food was excellent! Atmosphere is energetic leaning towards noisy, but still at an acceptable level.

Food and service were pretty good My disappointment was their insistence on a set menu as we were a party of 12 and the price at £70 per head was very high and simply not worth it The restaurant was very quiet as it was a Monday and they could have done better in my view Not a place for... More

Hix tries hard to please from the friendliness of the welcome, including the placing of outer garments in a cloakroom, to offering complimentary food for children, to the the theatricality of the main dining room itself, an unique combination of fishmarket behind a bar over which fish in Perspex boxes float around in their mobile installation, presumably by Damien Hirst.... The food here is excellent and it has a very trendy reputation, however the tables are too close together and the service was blunt! We arrived 10 minutes early for our table and were sent away, asked if we could have a drink at the bar - were told no it was too busy - not a great reception. We... More

Went to the restaurant in Smithfield's. This has to be one of the best steak restaurants in London. Put it this way, I haven't found better. Simple style, solid service and great food. Very much recommend the beef on the bone. The smoke salmon starter is nice though could do with some dressing - doll sauce, creme fraiche perhaps. Love... More

As out of towners, we went here on the recommendation of a friend. We were looking for decent fish and chips, but this wasn't the place. The fish fingers were very bland. I had the lobster which is amazingly good, even coming from Boston. The cheese plate and port wine were excellent as desserts. The service was slow but friendly.... More

I discovered this gem of a restaurant whilst walking back to Charing Cross from the West End. I liked my meal so much I went back the following day. The staff were very friendly and those who were there on both days welcomed me back on my second visit. The a la carte menu features fish and shellfish, but there... More

This was my second visit to Hix and once again it did not disappoint. In fact it keeps on getting better. I was with my friends and their two children (aged 5 and 7). For a top quality London restaurant in central London the way they accommodated children with a dedicated children's menu and colouring pencils was brilliant. The staff... More

I am only reviewing the bar downstairs only as we did not dine upstairs. Good ambiance, excellent mixologists. Felt like I was back home at my local bar. But they -and many bar I came across with- close early (Midnight. Last call at midnight. In London. Rolling my eyes).

Thank RSanz

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
