this place is a goldmine of shabby customer experience If you like dirty surroundings , surly service , stale scones , cakes , and tea served in dirty cups on faded plastic table cloths , with a leak stained ceiling , this place is for you If you can't find it you are one of the lucky ones

Dear snowboarding4life I am sorry to see you were unhappy with your experience. However, I disagree with much of it. The surroundings are not dirty, they have a deliberate aged style. The scones are baked fresh every day as are the cakes. Sorry to hear your cup was not as you would have liked. You really should have raised this... More

Upstairs in a very shabby pub, with stuffing coming out of the chairs !! Unfriendly staff, both in the pub and upstairs !! The food was average on the whole and only a tiny amount of jam and cream for the scones. Liked the idea of the place, but let down by the rude and surly staff.

Dear Jesvar2 Thank you for your review. Sorry you don't like my pub but it has a very specific style and huge historic relevance. For many visiting the tearoom they love the complete contrast. In fact it was voted the 4th coolest pub in Britain by the Times Newspaper only a week before your visit, a real testament to it's... More

After reading the reviews I thought I'd book this place as a surprise for my friends 50th birthday. I had previously emailed to book and discuss a few things. As it was a special birthday something to celebrate. Which when we got there nothing special was done. No happy birthday,no candle in cake . My true d even had a... More

What a wonderful find. You have to enter The Coach & Horses Pub and then take the stairs behind the bar. It's like a Victorian Tea Room with quaint ornaments and mirrors. There is an excellent choice of tea and also finger sandwiches, scones and petit fours. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. It's definitely worth a... More

Thank you so much for such lovely thoughts about our little business. We are about to relaunch with a whole new selection of teas and specific new summer teas. We are very excited. Its always so encouraging when customers make nice notes about my team as they all work so hard. I will ensure they see this. Kind regards Alastair More

We arrived at the Coach and Horses Pub at about 1215pm looking for the secret tea room as I had read online it is above the pub. Could not see a door for the tea room so after a bit of deliberation we went into the pub and asked where we could find it. The girl behind the bar was... More

For a place that required a bit of know-how to get to, it was worth the treasure hunt to find the gem! For reasonably priced Afternoon Tea and delicious food, I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for something interesting.

Hi Lexi. I am so glad you found us!! Having a secret venue and no signs as to where it is... such a dilemma. But I agree... the search is part of the fun. If ever you get to New York check out Majorie Elliot - a musical heaven. Warm regards Alastair Owner More

I absolutely loved this spot. It is so adorable and affordable. You can make reservations but it seemed like a few people just walked in. It is located above the pub, just ask behind the bar and they will call upstairs for you. We had the afternoon tea. It came with a pot of tea and pastries. We had the... More

This place was a fun find for an afternoon tea in London. Reservations are recommended. You enter through a pub and up the stairs behind the bar, but once the doors to the tea room are opened it smells of lovely scones and backed goods. The room is charming and the afternoon tea includes a selection of traditional scones, cakes... More

Even my driver, who is a Londoner, didn't know about this place!! We had a relaxing afternoon tea here, and it is casual, not stuffy, an excellent value for the price! May want to make reservations, but we were lucky enough to walk in without any.

We had a nice afternoon tea with some lovely tea choices. The cakes were delicious but the scones weren't brilliant, and the minute amount of clotted cream/jam wasn't quite enough. I would have asked for more of each but the menu is already fairly expensive for what you get, and I wasn't sure what they'd try and charge. It was... More

Dear Kyle I am sorry to see you had a less than great experience but thank you for leaving your thoughts. Our scones are baked fresh each day and I personally do 90% of the baking. Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
