Went there last Saturday with a friend for some wine and tapas. First visit to the Carmina & Lancelot Fizz for both of us. Lovely charming place with nice ambience. Food very disapointing: poor quaility and overpriced. We also found the service a little odd: we kept asking for a jar of water during the whole time we spent there... More

Went in here yesterday for drink and meal. Ordered 2 Gin and Tonics and asked for menu - said we were waiting on another to join us. Asked waiter about menu - baked cod with mash and vegetables. Asked if I could have chips instead of potatoes. Was told yes but as menu was A laCarte I would have to... More

I attempted to visit what looks externally a pretty attractive brasserie tonight. Well... Avon entering I requested a table for two and discreetly told the waiter I needed to pop to the loo, to which he bellowed 'ONLY FOR CUSTOMERS' slightly taken a back I just said 'okay well I'm buying when I'm back' much to my alarm and baring... I was annoyed when on our first visit our reservation could not be found and we were unable to dine that evening. All was more than redeemed when we returned a few days later to be warmly greeted by the same staff member who had refused us service a few nights earlier. His service throughout our dinner was first class... More

We went her on a voucher deal for a 3 course meal with a cocktail. We were not greeted very well at all, when we asked if we could change the cocktail for a glass of wine, the answer was an emphatic NO! You must have what is on the voucher and that is it! The food was OK, but... More

A very disappointing place. I was bought a champagne afternoon tea voucher for my birthday. The voucher said email to redeem the booking which I did and received a confirmation email. When we got there a man dressed in designer 3 piece suit with a stoic face opened the door. I was i have a booking and he asked for... More

The most appalling service I have ever experienced. On arrival, we were pointed to the tables and told to sit anywhere. We were using a prepaid voucher and passed this to the waitress, this voucher included a bottle of wine and we asked what the wine was that was with the voucher and we were given two options, we agreed... Attended afternoon tea with a wowcher offer. We paid £19 , usual price £47. As avid afternoon tea goers we were disappointed with the lack of attentiveness at this restaurant. We arrived to no welcome, no hello and no smile, we had to say hello to the staff who just asked for the voucher nothing more and said sit where... More

We were a bit lost one night and wanted somewhere for a nightcap, we were lucky that we found this place and had a lovely evening. The friendly owner did not mind that we merely wanted drinks and was very friendly and professional. He made a Negroni for me, but changed the recipe so it was very smooth and I... More

Like many before me, I had purchased an online special deal, and treated my mother in law to a champagne afternoon tea via the wowcher offer, and have to say it was very average. I was advised on the phone to print and bring the voucher along, which I did and on my arrival, I was immediately asked for the... More

Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
