Stop by for lunch and had very good steak and mushroom pie as well as the soup of the day. Great prices too. The beers were quite good with a wide selection. The atmosphere was very lively and casual.

We spent an evening there on arrival in London and the food/beer was excellent. The service was fast and price good for London. The atmosphere was very nice too. As for the location it's very easy to reach it with the Subway.

My wife and I wanted somewhere where we could have a couple of breakfast sandwiches before we started our trek around London. And what better than to see this quaint and historical pub as soon as we walked out of Blackfriars station. Having just literally opened we were greeted by an extremely friendly barman who couldn't have been more helpful.... More

This pub had been recommended to be because of the decor and as we were visiting the Southbank Centre we thought it would be the ideal spot. I couldn't get a booking on line for Easter Saturday lunch but a very helpful and pleasant phone call later and we had a booking. The exterior of the building is interesting but... More

Couldn't sit inside as it was too busy but then again it was Easter Saturday so expected. Staff serving were great, knowledgable about the drinks and willing to share that knowledge. They recommended ginger ale to go with the rhubarb gin I had ordered for my wife. I was suspicious but it worked really well. The food I saw coming... More

I have been to this pub several times over the years as I love it! It is quite small so timing your visit for less busy moments is probably a good idea. This time we went for brunch so it was reasonably quiet - an early evening visit would have very different! The pub has most unusual & interesting decor... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
