Found this through high ranking on TripAdvisor. It has a fresh interior although it is an old building and pub. The waitress was not only non attentive, she was also clueless. The menu was interesting. The food was not astounding, but it was good.

Lovely bright, light pub with outdoor seating. Nice touch of fresh flowers in the loos. 4 adults and 1 child ate well plus drinks for less than £100 - terrific value in London. Between us we had squid, octopus, chicken & jamon croquettes, plus 2 fish, a black dog burger and a veggie burger plus child. All the food was... More

I organised my work leaving due at the Black Dog and got such a great service. Tables were booked on our name as planned and we had enough space for everyone. The food was great and the atmosphere in the bar is great. Its not too crowded/loud - we all had a brilliant evening. I would definitely recommend.

It was a surprise to be honest, as many British pubs are owned by a chain and do not really have an own "personality". This was not the case here, which was good. They have a good selection of lagers and ales and food was quite good. The food selection is the typical British pub food with some new innovations... More

This place has amazing food!!! The half pint of prawns appetizer rocked! The Monkfish was delicious! The homemade brownie and pistachio ice cream was to die for!!!! I highly recommend this little gastro-pub!!

Delicious food, great selection of beers and extremely friendly staff. Gem of a pub on residential street close to Vauxhall station.

We visited The Black Dog for a business lunch and walked in to a stereotypical busy London atmosphere which is always a good sign! The menu is really good and the food doesn't disappoint albeit I was trying to be healthy and had the squid and chorizo salad. My colleague had the burger and it looked awesome and the fries... We stayed at the Staybridge Suites Hotel just next door. We had a couple beers at this pub and also some small plates. They beer selection was good (mainly craft brews) and their food was good as well (also many vegetarian options). We were glad this pub was just steps away from our hotel.

This is a great pub. With so many London pubs adopting the same formula - refurbished in F&B, food focus etc. - it's good to find one that's got it just right. Not overly sanitised, still a good sense of character. The food was great, excellent selection of wines and spirits. Only one small downer for is, the service was... More
