It's a bit of a rough old spot really, and it smells bad enough that I wouldn't come in earlier in the day, but it's a handy spot for late night drinks.

This place deserves to be in the top 100 places to eat in London solely for the fish and chips Proper milky flaky fish & real chips a credit to the chef

We enjoyed a delicious dinner here on our first night in London. Located opposite Borough market. Just be aware that children are not allowed in on a Friday night.

Whilst staying in LSE bankside, me and my colleagues came here or a birthday. The interior is very nice and the seating down stairs is also a nice place to be. Great range of beers

If you'd like a really disappointing meal, albeit for next-to-no-money, come here. I can't imagine how it stays open year after year but every now and then business meetings were held there or nearby and a crowd would end up heading towards it - my heart always sinks as this place just stinks.

On an extremely busy Friday night we dropped in for a quick pub snack. Although the upstairs was packed, the downstairs was relatively quiet and a table was no problem. We both had the Southern Fried Chicken and found it nicely spiced, juicy and obviously cooked from scratch. It came with crisp fries and a crisp, home made slaw. On... More

Great pub with great food, if you can find a place to park it! It's a popular hangout for business folk from 5 until later in the evening. Get there early or you'll be standing in the bar fighting for elbow room. Solid ales on tap, with an ever-changing offer.

The area around Borough Market is rich with pubs of character. This is probably the least inspired of them all. Lacks a decent beer range, and lacks vigor and interest. It is in a noticeable spot, so that attracts customers - and because the other pubs are often over-packed, people might choose to come here. But these are not good... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
