We had a nice dinner at IL PADRINO, lovely Italian food and not too expensive. Nice service from waiting staff, very attentive and fast to delivery. Down side: the place is very small and tables are very closed to each other making difficult to move around.

During a busy day in London, decided to have quick lunch in Leicester Square; more by accident than research found Il Padrino. Ordered one antipasto to share and a pizza to share - the antipasto was out of this world with sardines, mozzarella, various hams, sun dried tomatoes, anchovies and olives. The Pizza - was cooked perfectly - proper thin... More

With so many restaurants around here, we made the mistake of going to Il Padrino. A couple of the younger staff were friendly, but the rest were simply horrible. The manager was abrupt and rude. The food was also very poor. The meatballs were uncooked (very pink, almost bloody in the middle), and the sauce was bland and flavourless. Do not... More

This is our second visit as we loved it so much last year. The welcome is second to none, with excellent food and wine. Ignore the negative reviews as they must be mad! This is a wonderful place to dine and very reasonable!

We went here a couple days ago. Unfortunately we were misled by the 'friendly' welcome. Waiters waiting to grab you off the street!! It looked OK and I suppose the starter was OK, but the main dish(linguine with prawns and zucchini) was disappointing. The presence of an overbearing manager (Il Padrino I presume) was very offputting. He was extremely rude... More

We went there for dinner, because most of the restaurants nearby were closed. So we ended up in this one. It is really understaffed because there are only 2 waiters for the whole restaurant. We ordered 2 pizzas and the flavor of the pizza was not very good. We had to tell the waiter 2-3 times our beverages because he... More

I was surprised from the food, it was good and the staff was friendly. The restaurant might need some deocration but for a night out it is perfect.

We ate dinner at Il Pardrino before the theater and were most pleased. We sat outside and enjoyed watching the crowd. The wait staff was most friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and a fair price for London, Leicester Square. I am most surprised by the negative reviews... ?? Anyway, many thanks to Mario, Lilly and Natasha for a... More

Ordered plain bruschetta bread for a starter... the overweight, moustached sweaty waiter didn't listen, bought me the other bruschetta, even when we sent it back he kept bringing it back saying the chef wouldn't change it, we walked off....

Service is very slow, staff not interested. Our garlic bread was so dry we could not eat it, when we told waiter he said we should have had cheese on it! Pizza tasteless. Drinks over priced. They did not bring tap water. When the bill arrived they charged us £7.50 for garlic bread, they had charged us for a large... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
