An excellent choice of meat dishes, with a more limited selection of fish. My friend had a perfectly cooked, tender onglet, and I ordered a fillet of fish; the latter came with accompanying vegetables, but since the onglet is solitary on the plate, one has...More

I used to dine here quite frequently in the late 1990s. But the restaurant closed shortly thereafter. Having learnt that it had reopened, I visited their place for dinner on a recent trip to London. In the old days it was a small restaurant only...More

A bit underwhelmed to be honest, albeit I turned up without a booking. Very first impression was that the room was on the chilly side. I ordered pork terrine for starter and onglet as mains as the 2 course set menu. Terrine was fine, and...More

This is the ultimate comfort food experience, with perfect roast chicken and other items from the carvery along with juicy, fatty potato sides. The best winter treat without any fuss, even though the seating is a bit cramped. Service and the very reasonably priced winelist...More

This restaurant came recommended by a work colleague so we decided to go! Not only was the service excellent but the food as out of this world, (we ordered just about everything on the menu), from the starters, to the nibbles, the mains and the...More

I was invited by a colleague and didn't know anything about this place. We are both foodies so I expected it to be good, and it was. I don't drink alcohol, but my friend was very happy with the wine selection. The service was good...More

I was after walking past it for about 15 years, thinking it was one of those old crusty English restaurants. I'm told it has had new owners for the last 4 or 5 years. Well the food is excellent, the wine choice very interesting, and...More

The food here is very good, my only negative is the "church pew" seating, which is really uncomfortable and as we were a party of five, all there was.

A proper, old school English meat restaurant with excellent wines to compliment the food with lovely décor and excellent staff

....very good indeed. Strangely, the star of the show were the Confit potatoes. Quite simply, they were absolutely divine. The only negative is the "church pew" seating. Horribly uncomfortable and if you are a party of six, it's about the only place you can sit....More

Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site
of an ancient meat market which remains in operation
today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally
renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and
some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a
focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough
time wondering through the area's maze of streets and
you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky

The Quality Chop House has a long history as a provider of hospitality. Once a working men’s ‘eating house’ it offered nourishment and respite for the weary. It is in this spirit that we’d like to welcome you back through our doors. We are now offering three different dining experiences in surroundings reflecting the beauty and history of The Quality Chop House. The first is our Dining Room, For lunch the menu is simple, small and set. For dinner, we want to feed you. Give us your coat, pull up a pew (quite literally) and we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll be offering a 5 course set menu, a progressive feast of our favourite things. You can pick the bottle (but we’ll have some magnums open to pour you a glass while deciding). Our Wine bar & Shop is open all day for on- and off-premises enjoyment. Our wines are fine but our prices are fair. A hand-picked selection from some serious cellars without the serious price tag. And we’ll have charcuterie, cheese and smaller plates on hand too. For tastings, feastings and meetings we offer our Upstairs - A private room for up to 10 people.
