I love the old style décor - the foods surprisingly good, great coffee (and its not often I can honestly say that in London), hearty portions, ideal for breakfast and lunch, or an easy nothing fancy dinner. Tourists coming to London/locals ........ a fab outing would be to take the tube to Hampstead, breakfast at the Coffee Cup then walk... More

This 'coffee bar', a Hampstead institution, opened in 1954, two years after I was born. When I was at school in the 1960s, this was THE place to 'hang out'. Oddly, I never did. In those days, the café had an exciting reputation. Maybe, I was not exciting enough to pay it a visit. Recently, I entered, and enjoyed a... More

I go to this cafe at least once a week, it is always full and a good place to meet friends and have a casual dinner or lunch or snack. The food is good, especially if you know what to order... the pasta is great, you can also order 1/2 portion which is big enough (unless you are a big... More

I have been to the coffee cup a few times as it is close to our home. This time we came with visiting family. This is a little gem, which it took as a while to discover. By its looks you would think is just a greasy spoon (and it does serve great full English breakfast), or just a coffee... More

Great looking little restaurant. Rich history. Disappointed by the Latte. It was extremely hot and watery. Especially since coffee is in their name. The staff was fantastic however. Will come back for the food next time.

Was very busy on New Year's Day but frankly staff were overwhelmed and this showed - were rude and rushed! My salmon sandwich was supposed to come with pepper and lemon and didn't have neither, bland and tasteless. Lack of initiative and customer service absent. Will not go back

The service here was terrible; only one of the five different staff who waited on us could summon even half a smile. Our dinner plates were removed quickly enough once finished, even while the rest of our table was still eating, but then we were left for a long time. The waitress seemed almost shocked when we requested a dessert... More

best character cafe' with great selection of dishes at an unbelievably good price. Often go with the kids and may have to wait to be seated in this old fashioned bastion of Hampstead. Since it was taken over by the owner of Villa Bianca, sharing the kitchen and most of its produce, it has been serving traditional Italian dishes (good... More

Been going here for a few years and really used to love going there. Especially nice during the summer. Good food selection and open past midnight. However recently there seems to be a new manager and a change of staff. Service was abysmal on the last visit with the new manager seeming more interested in his Facebook than serving customers.... If heading for Hampstead Heath on a Sunday morning there is no better start to the day than breakfast here. We had poached eggs, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and egg and sausages respectively and all were proclaimed very yummy. Service was friendly and the prices very civilised. A place to return to and reading the reviews it seems that... More
