We ate at this restaurant after a visit to Wilton's Music hall. The shredded duck was good, though not as crispy as it might be. We both had fish stews for the main course and both were good. Service was good and not expensive.

Walking distance from Aldgate East and Tower Hill tube stations, this family-run Filipino restaurant on the historic Cable Street, near the junction with Dock Street, is quite a find. Cirilo is master in the kitchen and his wife Julia organises front of house. Our waiter was delighted when we ordered a bottle of Romanian Pinot Noir (£19). She was from... More

No mistake: the food was great, the service good an the meal was reasonably priced. But we nearly didn't eat there because I asked permission to plug in my phone charger and it was refused. When I said that I'd go somewhere else, the boss came over and explained that they are a small business and have to meet the... More

Whilst staying in the area overnight with my daughter, we had a look on Trip Advisor for suggestions for the best places to eat near Wombats Hostel. This place is so small on the outside you could miss it, but when you find it, it's well worth a visit. Some tables were reserved, which is always a good sign. We... More

Being short of time before a theatre visit we made our choice from the menu displayed outside. As soon as we were seated a waitress laid cutlery on our table and took our order, the food arrived so speedily they must know the scenario. Th meal, Cheese baked potato with salad was just fine.

Great food and service, and really good value for money at this little philippine restaurant. Recommend the chicken skewers starter. Gorgeous! The noise of the trains running overhead adds to the charm of this place, as does the 80's music!

Spotted the restaurant by chance. We weren't that hungry so decided to give it a whirl. It was busy (always a good sign). We ordered delicious crispy duck for starters followed by two noodle dishes. Everything was piping hot, pretty good portions and very, very tasty. Accompanied by two glasses of house red (good). Service was fast and friendly. A... More

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighbourhood Profile
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
