Very central London pub , always busy . Back in the 80's was a very cool pub with a jukebox now part of a chain so more tourist orientated. But lots of space and choice plus all staff super efficient. Now has a venue downstairs which was the reason for our visit to see a band , £6 bit steep... More

Popped in for a drink whilst waiting for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to open. Busy so didn't get a table immediately. Staff friendly and helpful. Ordered mulled wine and wedges at the bar. Found a table before the food came up. Table was cleared quickly and staff asked if we wanted more drinks while we were sat at... More

We popped in here on Sunday between the afternoon and evening viewings of the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre. Literally the place couldn't have been any closer to the theatre - perfect. The food and service was excellent and really reasonably priced. If you're planning on going between shows like we did, I would definitely recommend giving them a... More

If you are visiting HP Parts 1 & 2, a brilliant lunch can be enjoyed watching the queue at the Palace Theatre. You are in the warm and you just pop out 10 minutes before the curtain goes up. We had 8 small plates between 5 of us and it was all tasty, hot and delivered more or less at... More

On a Saturday in November, we made the trip up to town for a live gig at The Spice Of Life. On the ground floor it appears to be a normal pub with a menu and good range of draught beers/lagers. Head downstairs to another bar and the performance room. A really intimate 100-capacity or so space. Nicely lit, clean... More

My husband likes a tradition "drinkers" pub, me I prefer a more upmarket wine bar and something at a bit more on trend, so its tricky to satisfy both wants. However, we came across The Spice of Life just before heading for a meal in St Martins Courtyard last week and it was a good find. It is cosy, warm,... More

We chose Spice of Life because we wanted to hear the London City Big Band play timeless jazz in an intimate setting. We loved this place. Classic British pub upstairs, and a TINY music venue downstairs. I felt like a part of the band. Food was fine, we had fish and chips. If I never have another mushy pea as... More

Those of us who have seen the movie Sid and Nancy, this is the one. The place is fully modern with a up to date menu and full bar. Certainly not a gritty as it was portrayed in the movie. BTW the telephone booth is still located just outside. The food was good, the drinks were good and the service... More

It looks like your typical English pub, and it's ideally situated at the crossroads of many theatres there between Leicester Square and Soho. Friendly service in the main pub. They advertise £10 burger and a drink specials on Tuesdays. But the real gem is downstairs, where they have live music and a small bar and tables for two or six.... More

Thank you so much for your review. We do have a gem of a music venue downstairs with quite a proud history. For future reference, our music nights are as follows, Monday - open mic Wednesday - jazz afternoon and evening Friday and Saturday - indie, rock mix, multiple live bands. Tuesday - pub quiz and burger and a drink... More

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
