12 mature ladies for Christmas lunch in one of the side rooms, we were looked after fed and watered extremely well. Food was good and hot and we were all served promptly. The lady and her colleagues who looked after us was really attentive and service was excellent. Great atmosphere and lovely smiley staff, whole experience enjoyable and well worth... More

Took some work colleagues for an after work beer and food as I've loved this place for ages. As usual the food and beer were top notch. However a Monday night quiz to an almost empty pub with a mic that didn't work and 20-30 testing testing 1-2-3 didn't add to the atmosphere. It didn't work give up and try... More

On a Wednesday evening, the Crutched Friar was doing a roaring trade in after work drinks. No doubt this was helped along by its Wine Wednesday promotion, offering a bottle of really quite decent wine for £10.95. The real ale was also in excellent condition. The food however was distinctly average. Our tapas dishes took 45 minutes to arrive and... More

We stopped in for lunch (our hotel was across the street and the Concierge suggested this restaurant for a quick bite and drink). Our server was friendly and helpful, offering advice on what was good. She was right....it was all delicious!

We visited on a Saturday evening around 7pm, was really quiet for a Saturday but it was good to be able to sit and have a drink and hear each other talk. Music was playing but not too loud. We ordered food which took around 2o minutes to arrive. Food was pub food but was excellent, three of us had... More

The menu was typical pub food and drinks. The food was good and the dining area was comfortable. There was a pretty lively after work crowd and we enjoyed this restaurant and the food as well as the service.

The city is full of noisy wine bars so it's nice to be able to spend some time in a spacious Pub with very reasonable food and friendly staff.

Popped in here for lunch and a drink on a couple of occasions. The food is standard pub fare, OK and reasonably priced. Reasonable size and a nice layout so worthwhile place to go if you are near the Tower. Directly outside of the Double Tree hotel. Pleasant place with friendly staff

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
