Never been for a regular meal here but have been three or four times for a Sunday over the last year. Every time the food has been exceptional. Getting a table is becoming harder every time we book but with good reason. Service is great,...More

This is a fantastic gastro pub restaurant. Very good ambience and excellent service. A warm friendly welcome on my arrival. Promptly seated. We both had a grilled octopus dish for our starters. It was perfection; the best I've ever eaten. Both had fish dishes for...More

Away from the crowds but in the heart of the city and charm of Angel. Lovely decor and clean environment, highly suggest for an evening meal, Sunday brunch or an afternoon pint! Amazing staff, amazing food!

We walked in at about 7pm on a Wednesday, and were able to snag a table for three, but the tables filled soon after, so the next time we go for a meal we'll make a reservation. The menu changes daily, they take a lot...More

The staff and kitchen at the Pig and Butcher outdid themselves. We showed up with a group on a Saturday evening, ordered a full dinner in the pub, and they dealt gracefully and generously with every last detail. The steaks (chateaubriand and tomahawk) were prepared...More

This is a pub that is a bit further from the hustle and bustle of upper street. This in itself is a advantage as it has a pleasant view of the calm that is Liverpool street (apologies I am a local Islingtonian). The pub is...More

The lamb rump melted in the mouth, it was absolutely delicious, I treated myself to spring mess for dessert, the lemon and lavender meringue was to die for, tart lemon and sweet fluffy meringue. It was my first visit to the Pig and Butcher and...More

Had a great traditional Sunday roast here. We opted to split it, as it was quite big. The Yorkshire pudding was amazing. We split a very small caprese inspired salad prior. Their dark chocolate hot pot for dessert is a must. Modern style pub, with...More

Been twice. First time last December. Amazing venison hash for lunch. I am a devoted carnivore, and now a devoted customer. Went again the first week in May. This time a fish dish sounded best. Again amazing. Whoever is cooking in this place is very...More

Hi It is a while since I have been there but I do remember there being roast artichoke being on the menu. Maybe best to call as I do know that the menu is slightly different each day.

Description
The Pig and Butcher occupies a handsome pub built in the mid 1800's on what was fields used by farmers to rest and feed their livestock before being sent to Smithfield's Meat Market. We have brought the pub back to it's roots and receive carcasses straight from the farm and butcher them on site. We specialise in rare breeds such as White Park cattle, Iron Age pigs and Hebridean lamb while our friend Seb at Chart Farm supplies our game - if you haven't tried his venison you haven't lived! In summer we grill over coal and wood on our specially built Robata grill. In winter we brine, cure, smoke and braise.Vegetables come from Kent and are as good and as fresh as anything you'll find in this country. Our fish is supplied by Rupert on the south coast. He calls us in the morning and tells us what the day boats have caught and what he has. This is one of the reasons our menu changes so much - we literally don't know what fish we'll be serving until we have spoken with Rupert! We take our inspiration from farmhouse tables across Europe. Food is served simply and with little fuss! Share lots of small plates or a single big plate. We like the idea of bringing conversation back to the dining table and what better way to do it than sharing/stealing food? Think of food as Granny used to make…
