We fell into this pub around 1pm Sunday lunchtime, tired and hungry. It was very quiet and we were asked if we had booked ! 15 Minutes later we knew why, it was filling up fast. We ordered three adult meals and a child portion of fish and chips. My husband gave the beef roast a huge thumbs up, my... More

Been coming for years. Good quality food at reasonable prices. Typical trendy pub style menu. Be sure to book to guarantee a seat. Reasonable prices. Mains from around GBP 15-28 per meal. Good, friendly service. 10 minute walk from Gloucester tube station.

Comfy pug with a nice atmosphere, the drinks were reasonably priced and the chips were some of the best I've had! We went on a Saturday afternoon, it was busy but easy to get a table.

Nice local restaurant. Good selection of appetizers and main course and of course some local beer! Fish & chips and Shepherd's pie filled our needs!

We both fancied a Sunday roast while out in Kensington visiting the museums so popped in here. Very welcoming service and nice modern decor, with a relaxing vibe. I went for the lamb, while my partner opted for chicken. Very nice food – only complaint was the roast potatoes were slightly undercooked. I prefer them nice and fluffy on the... More

This is our new favorite for pub dinning in this area. The food and service were very good. We were there on a quiet Thursday night, so I am not sure what the weekend would be like.

I don't know why this has bad reviews ! The food was lovely and the prices quite reasonable We had the beet and fennel salad , the carrot soup of the day and the lamb pie with mashed potatoes and fried shallots. It was quite empty and the food took very long to come out. They close the kitchen at... More

The food was below average. Burgers were overcooked and served with skinny fries. The bangers and mash was a small serving. The service was not great, no smiles and we Didnt get asked if everything was ok during the meal. Small group (less than 6)and a big service charge was without being asked. Lack of atmosphere.

Its a British pub that has been renovated some and most pleasant. Reservations are a must! We only got in because the people were not coming for over a hour and we had plenty of time to eat before the people whose table it was arrived. I had shepherds pie which was excellent and my friend had fish and chips... More

Stumbled into this neighborhood pub and fell into the cutest atmosphere of natural woods, bright comfy pillows, and fresh flowers. Oh, and the food - yummy soup, GREAT bangers and mash, and delicious crusty bread for sandwiches. Although we came for lunch, the bar seems fully equipped with all sorts of beverages. Friendly staff, reasonably priced - worth a visit!

Description
This is a modern British pub with all the quality and style that you would expect in Kensington, coupled with the comfort, delightful look and fine, fresh food that are synonymous with the quintessential Geronimo pub. Perfectly set in the oldest licensed building on Old Brompton Road, The Duke of Clarence was previously more renowned in the area for its brunch, burgers and bonhomie. However, it has now also gained an impressive reputation for the extensive wine list, selected by John Clevely and featuring everything from smooth classic reds to aromatic whites. Alongside a great range of beers, The Duke of Clarence can certainly satisfy the demanding residents of Kensington and beyond. Whether it's to watch the sport of the day or just watch the world pass by through the huge open windows, this is a superb spot for both stylish diners and drinkers.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
