Came here with a friend for Sunday lunch at around 2pm. Te place was busy, which was great. However it seems that this creates two problems. 1. No staff running front of house. If you're coming in for a table, be prepared to be ignored...More

We came here for dinner on Christmas Eve but weren't told they closed early. The starters arrived promptly and as soon as one of us finished, the plate was cleared. What followed beggared belief - everyone's main course was brought to the table while some...More

Been going to this pub for 5 years. Really pleased when it was re-furbished a while back and no longer a dive. It seems that management has recently changed and some of the current bar staff are less than friendly. Good beers, food a bit...More

Hi there, I'm sorry your latest experience wasn't up to our usual great standards! But our policy on Vaping/E-cigs has changed and we no longer allow either. I will take this back to the team and find out a little bit more about what happened....More

Hi Rachel, Many thanks for your feed back, as all our food is prepared to order, using fresh, seasonal ingredients, you do have to pay a little extra for that. I would however like to know more specific details about your experiences with us. If...More

We're regular visitors to what is a gem and asset given its location. However, on Sundays it can be ran off its feet and long waiting times advised, with advertised grub suddenly not available. What ruined our most recent visit however was the attitude of...More

The Princess of Wales has been given some TLC and is now open once again — a proper good pub for the good people of Clapton. The new-look Princess of Wales combines the best of a traditional London pub with everything you’d expect from a first-rate bar or restaurant. British classics like fish & chips, seasonal pies and juicy burgers will always feature on our menus but you’ll also spot innovative, home-grown recipes that feature the best of our regional produce. On our bar, cask ales take pride of place but we’ve also made room for some top-notch craft beers. Our wines, gins, vodkas and rums follow a similar pattern: firm favourites mixed in with exciting, new flavours. Come by soon, get yourself a glass of something cold, sit by the River Lea and thank your lucky stars for unearthing the wonder that is the Princess of Wales.
