A french touch in the middle of the Strand. Excellent breakfast and lunch options. I also love the options for dessert

I love this chain. Simple and good. There is not a bad sandwich or pastry. My only complaint is that they often run out of soup and do not have it at all in the summer.

Great place to grab a yummy sandwich or cake. Some counter seating but mainly take out. Very friendly staff who get through the que quickly with a smile. What little wait you might experience is well worth it the food is fresh and well presented. The reasonable pricing is improved upon with their loyalty scheme. Well worth a try

Called into this branch for a quick Coffee and Pastry. The coffee it put it mildly was tasteless! The pastry was good, nothing out of the ordinary. I've used Paul Restaurants in Paris and always been pleased but this particular branch let the brand down. On the positive side the staff did offer to change my coffee after I complained... More

Great welcome from a fun team serving well made, fresh, good lunchtime food. Speedy service and reasonably priced too! Well worth signing up for the loyalty card for offers and free deals. And did I mention cakes??

I always like it here, the courts, the old press offices and the inns. In the area is Dr Johnston's House which is a real gem. It's also rarely busy so you get a feel of the old London and can easily have a day out just in this square mile.

Fantastic coffees and pastries - I always go there for my wake up coffee! The down side is they always try and give you a loyalty card but you have to register on a website which is a pain!

The quality of food in a Paul outlet is beyond question. However, the service let this branch down on this occasion. Again, I would have awarded it a "Good" had it been available. Average is too low, Very Good is not apt for this visit. It isn't a restaurant as such, but somewhere to sit down with a coffee and... More

This is a great place to pick up some breakfast. Though their food is rather pricy (especially in England as opposed to France), it's absolutely delicious. The quiches are especially good, and don't forget to try the raspberry tart! Overall, the quality of food is excellent.

Description
The PAUL Bakery can be found at 147 Fleet Street, between Fetter Lane and Farringdon Street, not far from the Royal Courts of Justice and The Temple with its remarkable round church, built by the Knights Templar and consecrated 1185. It's pleasant to walk down from Fleet Street to Victoria Embankment to the river, so why not pop in and buy something to eat and drink to take with you to enjoy whilst you contemplate the view of the Thames. Fleet Street is named after the Fleet River, now an underground river rising up by Hampstead Ponds and flowing down to join the Thames through Camden Town, King's Cross and beneath Farringdon Road, Farringdon Street and New Bridge Street. Fleet Street had a long association with printing, publishing and the head offices of all the major daily newspapers, now long gone. Fleet Street was a main thoroughfare in medieval London and remains so today, filled with the bustle and traffic of a busy city, and our PAUL bakery is a great place to drop in to pick up some of our freshly baked hand made bread, breakfast viennoiseries, lunchtime sandwiches and hot food, tea time patisseries and cakes and hot and cold drinks to take away. Closest stations are Temple or Blackfriars (District and Circle Lines). Only 5 seats are available at this bakery. No disabled access available.

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
