The restaurant was on the first floor in this tucked away hotel near st Jame's Square. I had a pre-theatre dinner here before and really enjoyed it. Hence when I spotted they were doing a 2 for 1 offer on their duke and duchess afternoon tea I quickly booked it. The afternoon tea set was served in two sections: first,... More

This was my second visit for tea at Petrichor in a year and my impressions from the first visit were more or less confirmed. It is a very central location as the Cavendish is just a few blocks from Piccadilly Circus. This time I got a seat in the lounge instead of the restaurant which was all to the good... More

I didn't know what to expect but had heard the food was very good. From the start the staff were exceptional introducing everything with their enthusiasm that was clear they had for working there. I had a collection of dishes and had certain flavours that were more of 'experiences' than just food. We all have our top 10 things in... More

I went to Petrichor with a group of friends. From the very beginning the staff was super attentive. We had a selection of dishes that we shared as we wanted to try as many dishes as possible. Every single one was to die for, from the delicate flavour of the scallops to the cod with avocado and taramasalata. The wagyu... More

I was staying at the hotel and thought I would try the associated restaurant rather than venture out. I was really pleased with the ambiance and also the varied menu. I went for the set menu which was great value at under £30 (including a glass of bubbles)! Nice service, good view and tasty food. Beetroot salad to start, cod... More

....seems to be an important feature at this smart restaurant in the heart of the West End. My Ham Hock terrine was decorated like the Sydney Opera House with slivers of cucumber. The sliver of terrine must have been cut with a very sharp knife. Main course of Skrei Cod was a small pile in the middle of the plate... More

We booked afternoon tea and got a 2 for 1 deal. The presentation boxes for the desserts were novel and the quality of food very good. It was quite quiet but this didn't detract from the atmosphere.

Above all else, the staff's service was impeccable. From receiving us all the way through the meal, they were professional while discrete creating a great atmosphere. The a-la-carte menu has some great fish selection at reasonable prices, and perhaps the only limitation is the portions aren't necessarily huge (although you won't leave hungry). The interior is decorated nicely and makes for... More

The staff surpassed themselves last night with us being in a hurry to get to a show. They swiftly served out delicious chicken and the Welsh lamb hotpot. The taste and blend of herbs mixed with the meats were excellent..... We could not fault it all. As always superb all round for the fourth time!

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
