Located just west of the Tower of London, and east of the St.Pauls to Tate Modern Millenium bridge, this pub is located down a narrow walkway just off the Thames pathway. With a small (very) outdoor balcony directly over the Thames and across from Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the outdoor viewing is spectacular. However, the inside doesn't disappoint - with large... The Pepys worked out as an excellent venue for my retirement do (70 guests). I hadn't been here before and just found it on Google. We had use of the Balcony bar which had views (and small balcony) over the Thames towards The Globe theatre and The Shard etc, much better than other places that offered 4 walls. The manager,... Nicely done-out, modern bar/ pub right on the river in the City. We went for lunch and were lucky enough to bag a table right by the windows, with amazing views across the river. Food was tasty and very good value considering the location. I had a ribeye steak and my wife had fish and chips, both of which were... More

Amazing riverside bar. My advise...Monday or Tuesday in the afternoon order one of their nice cocktails, sit in the balcony and enjoy de view! And if you get hungry do not hesitate the food is delicious. 5*staff and really cosy place.

What a great venue for a wedding reception. The food and atmosphere were top notch. Right on the river with a cute little balcony over the water. Staff were very pleasant and service was polite and efficient. Makes me want to come back and check out the restaurant and cocktails!

I went to The Pepys last Thursday night with some friends to have a drink and eat something, the girl who welcomed us was very kind and she found a really nice table with an amazing view on the Thames really suggestive! Another nice waitress was taking care of us all night, we ordered few cocktails that tasted very nice... More

Had happy memories of this lovely old place with great views. Sadly now modern. Impersonal and overpriced. Menu inflexible and manager very complacent in response to criticism. Lots of choice in area .... Won't be going back.

Hello Judy, I am sorry that we did not live up to your expectations. Yes, we had an extensive refurbishment over a year ago as we felt that the place looked a little tired and needed a bit of TLC. We have tried to do this as sympathetically as possible and it has been welcomed by almost all of our... More

This pub/restaurant was located on the North bank of the Thames near to Blackfriars bridge. It was really clean inside and the views across the river were very impressive. The menu is fairly extensive for a City pub including Fish & Chips, burgers and Pizzas. The food was well cooked and a clue to that was the wait of maybe... More

Not good value for money, even in London. 10oz steak was a laugh, more like 6oz. Chips were hard and the peppercorn sauce was a tiny thimbleful that tasted like gravy granule gravy with peppercorns in. This, for 2 people, cost us £50! Sad to say that we dined at a Wetherspoon's and ate the same meal for half the... More

Hello Hummybee, I am so sorry you didn't enjoy your meal with us. I have taken this review to our head chef who assures me that all steaks are weighed and there is no Bisto in this house! But clearly something went wrong here and I am really sorry we weren't able to fix this on the evening itself. Kind... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
