I came to Rowley's for the first time in 1977, not so long after it opened, and I have been perhaps a dozen times since. It has not changed one iota in that time, 41 years, and every meal has been absolutely top class. The...More

Had a groupon voucher and the chateaubriand with unlimited fries was lovely, great service, nice wine. Easy to book for 7pm on Saturday. Restaurant was busy but staff were attentive and friendly. Great value with the groupon voucher.

We visited this small restaurant for the first time and enjoyed a delicious meal with excellent service. Its mid price range and there was plenty of wine choices either by the carafe, glass or bottle. Everything cooked well - the chicken was particularly tender and...More

This placed looked interesting, but was worried it was too close to the tourist trail. Our starters of soup and salad were tasty and we both enjoyed that, but the charcoal supreme of chicken with roquefort butter and unlimited fries was a let down. There...More

I really liked the Chateaubriand and wine. The deco was beautiful, esp the Victorian tiles and window. The tables suitably spaced apart and there was a positive atmosphere. The service was good.

St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII,
the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier
destination for high end craft and bespoke design.
Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which
indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the
establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during
a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s
Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing

Not many restaurants have a loyalty scheme, which just goes to show how very loyal Rowley's long-time regulars happen to be. The room is traditionally British, but also informal and relaxed. The menu changes monthly, and always features Rowley's tremendously good char-grilled entrecote steak or breast of Sussex chicken with herb and butter sauce and endless chips. The trad Caeser salad is also terrific. Short, intelligent wine list and the sun-dried tomato chutney served with the cheese is just right. Great for business lunches, or pre- or post-theatre.
