Canela uses produce sourced and imported directly from Portugal and the menu features the freshest, finest food, charcuterie, cheeses and wine from specialist regions around the country. Each dish at canela has been developed from original recipes and family favourites. Nice cosy place to enjoy a quick meal and a nice glass of wine. Went there one afternoon while I... More

Like others I came across the Portuguese restaurant whilst wandering around Convent Garden and what a find! Friendly staff, excellent food and wine and great value. It starts from the warm greeting when you come into the place, the atmosphere is very good with a warm glow and wooden tables. We ordered from chorizo and sweet potato starter with bread... More

Stayed at the Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel just across the road so this is a perfect place for a nice informal breakfast/coffee/relax. Had the yoghurt with granola and fresh fruit and delicious coffee. Very pleasant waiting staff. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Had lunch today with a friend. We both had a salad with a bottle of sparkling water. Both well presented and very tasty. We followed the salad with some lovely chocolate cake and a custard tart between us. It seemed too good an opportunity to miss. The bill was reasonable seeing that we were near Covent Garden. The service was... More

I stumbled on this Portuguese cafe/restaurant in Covent Garden this morning and was the only customer. The charming waitress gave me a free Portuguese lesson. Lovely coffee and pasteis de nata!

We went here with friends before a performance at the Donmar Warehouse. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed and chilled. We had the mixed starter platter. Very tasty. A long and very good wine list to choose from.

Offering quite a small menu, this restaurant has a relatively limited number of seats and tables. The menu offers traditional Portuguese dishes, and there is an extensive Portuguese wine list. Staff were friendly, service efficient, and prices reasonable. My criticism is that the quality of some of the dishes just wasn't that great, which was a surprise as the menu... More

A really friendly small restaurant serving Portuguese wines and food. Tables are close together so not overly private ....we had a chat with our neighbours! Food and drinks served very promptly.

In the heart of Covent Garden, yet slightly off the beaten track near Seven Dials is Canela - an uncomplicated small and cosy café / restaurant. The food is authentic and tasty, the wine from all parts of Portugal and the ambience friendly. It's not the cheapest place in town, but it is good value for money and definitely our... More

Small, nice and cozy place. Even if the waitress was a bit inexperienced and her English was poor, hopefully the service with the Portuguese guy was completely different. He was friendly and helpful, so in general the service was good. The food was okay, really simple and not really flavored. The wine instead was really good.
