Casual lunch on Saturday. Both the pho and the rolls were tasty and the portion quite decent. Service relatively quick. The atmosphere of the restaurant was a little plain with no specific efforts made to give the room an authentic feeling.

Nice location and cute place but it's more expensive than other Vietnamese places for food that is not as tasty. My pho was really watery and the quality of the seafood was not good. I liked the banana fritters but they were nothing special. Pho, although a chain, is considerably better.

Thank you for your feedback. Im really sorry you weren't completely satisfied with your visit to Cay Tre. Please be assured our seafood is fresh, ordered from a top supplier and comes in fresh daily to our restaurant. We are very upset to read you found the pho too watery, we normally hear great things about our pho as we... More

Visited here a few times and I have always found the staff was very helpful. Last time my friends and I visited, we were looked after by a lovely lady called Wendy. At the end of the meal, we found out that she was the manager. I would recommend this place. I love the way they cook Duck and Bonfire... More

We went yesterday to have dinner quiete late (at 10.30 on Tuesday) They were closing the kitchen in 20min so we ordered very quickly and we eat very quickly. They forgot a plate and we couldn't order it anymore and there was a problem with the bottle of wine with some thing like salt inside but we don't know what... More

Walk in around 7pm and was able to get seated immediately. Ordered the beef soup pho and vietnamese spring roll they were authentic and tasted good. The price was acceptable. The only thing that I took a star off was because the place was quite crowded and the table+ chair I was served was not very clean. Otherwise I was... More

This place from outside looks small. They have two layered sitting. I was given a table near the door and it was cold and not very comfortable. The restaurant is mostly full due to its good food and attractive pricing. I ordered a Pho and hot sake. The bill came around 20 with gratitude. The restaurant does not take American... More

Had the special pho and something like a spring roll dish. I thought the portions were on the tight side, especially given the price it cost £20 for what would normally be a £15 meal in other places. The pho was good, great stock, decent beef although quite fatty. The spring roll dish was very tasty too. It's an intimate... More

Firstly, the food was very good. Secondly the service was a bit naff. The restaurant was very busy and my colleague and I were asked to wait for 45 minutes or would we mind sharing? To be honest, it worked out fine and our new table mates were a very sociable couple. As I said earlier the service was pretty... More

I've been here twice. The first time I had a Vietnamese Beef Carpaccio-type salad (I believe the beef is pickled?) with prawn crackers. It was delicious. There was an array of colours, textures and flavor. Beef was super tender and tasty. I also had and fully enjoyed the Wild Shrimp Summer Rolls. They were full of flavor also and the... More

Brilliant butter fish curry. Have never had better any where else. Basic décor but the prices are low and food top notch across the board

Description
Cay Tre is Hoxton's favourite Vietnamese restaurant, small but perfectly formed. Here you'll find a fresh and creative approach to Vietnamese cuisine that we pride ourselves on. Cay Tre is bustling with life and full of the heady aromas of great Vietnamese cooking. We're passionate about food, ensuring what you get is an authentic taste of Vietnam using fresh, well sourced ingredients from the British Isles, wherever possible.

We have a saying at Cay Tre, which is 'to make the simplest of dishes taste good you need the ingredients of time and passion' and you can be assured we have plenty of both. Every dish, from our street food snacks to our a la carte delicacies, is lovingly prepared with this saying in mind. Take our classic beef Pho for example, which takes over 18 hours to make! Likewise, our wine list is carefully selected by renowned wine writer Malcolm Gluck to match the aromatic dishes on the menu.

What's more, if you're looking for food on the go, we offer a Vietnamese takeaway service and can deliver promptly to your home or office.

Staying in Shoreditch

Neighbourhood Profile
Shoreditch
The western front of the edgy East End, Shoreditch is a perennially trendy haven for anything “street” – be it art, food, or fashion. With its handful of well connected transportation links dotting its perimeter, along with an ever increasing variety of shops, hotels, bars, and restaurants, it's easy to explore this trend-conscious and youth-oriented neighbourhood. There's a lingering post-industrial grit about Shoreditch, but because it shares a border with “The City” financial district, the influence from its upscale neighbour can result in fascinating outcomes.
