I used to eat here quite a lot, but the menu has shrunk considerably over time, particularly vegetarian dishes. And the price creeps up quite a bit too. Vietnamese on Mare Street used to be inexpensive, but GP charge West End prices. Some dishes are cold and it is difficult to communicate with staff.

Other reviewers have described this as ‘relaxed’ or ‘cafe style’, well in my opinion it is a cafe, rather than a restaurant. The décor is bare and ageing, and the fittings are utilitarian which gives a canteen-like atmosphere. The service was prompt and friendly, but the food was disappointing, I chose the Chicken Bun, which was plain and I felt... More

I have visited Green Papaya twice now and simply put the food is to die for! Especially the Salmon in banana leaf! We were fighting for the last piece as we have decided to share few dishes! Service is also very good and I believe Charlie the owner has served us on both occasions. The whole experience was just perfect... More

Liked having many bites" to chose from. They were larger than expected and very tasty. My husband really liked the cumin lamb skewers. I took an order of Dan Dan noodles to go and that was quite good.

Cool place, more like a viet cafe. Pho is really good, and the stuffed buns are amazing. Pretty much Vietnam in Hackney.

Its been open at lunchtime for a couple of months now and I've been there twice in the last week or so and wii be going back next week. It is my new favourite place to eat. So far I've tried 5 starters... More

Came here and tried the traditional dishes (that's how I judge them) but the rice tasted a bit old... First time I've had this problem and it put me off ever since.

Excellent casual Vietnamese restaurant. Great tasting noodles, friendly service and reasonable. I had noodle and my partner had the ramen, both excellent.

Tasty food full of flavour ( I had the soy tofu noodles) and very attentive waiters. Will be back. Nice for couples.
