Real shame this has to be a negative review as the food from this place, I think - I wasn't able to eat much of it due to the staff - is pretty decent. But after having dinner there in the evening we had to...leave a bit earlier than expected due to an emergency and asked for a doggy bag for the food left (which was about 75%). Instead of doing that they chucked all the food away as we sat there like idiots waiting for them to bring out the doggy bag that never arrived. Pretty poor waiters. Am sure it was an honest mistake by the but the issue really comes due to the fact we got no apologies for the fact they basically threw away the vast majority of stuff we'd paid good money for. And were actually pretty rude about it. The tiny portion we were able to have was really nice, hence wanting to take it home. It was just a shame that it was binned against our wishes and that the staff are so unfriendly. However the next day, still craving an Indian, we went to Bengal Village, just down the road, and the food was even better (and we were allowed to eat it) , the staff were lovely and we got a doggy bag for even the tiny bit ww ate. Winning! Go there, not to City Spice for a really nice, friendly Brick Lane authentic curry experience.More

I was enticed by the vegan menu at City Spice and was very pleased by the knowledge of the menus by the waiters as well. Our waiter (the bosses son) was very helpful when it came to my gluten allergy too. I had the shoji...garlic whilst my boyfriend had a chicken Madras which he throughly enjoyed. The service was quick but not rushed and it suited the fast paced environment of Brick lane. Great Wine too!!More

During a visit to London we were keen to seek a vegan menu for a curry on brick lane. City Spice came up as a top suggestion and we were not disappointed. Drinks were served extremely promptly, the staff were fantastic, no request felt too...much, food was prompt but not rushed. We had two starters, two mains, rice, chapatti, poppadoms, and 2 beers for £60 The food was absolutely fantastic, full of flavour without being too oily. We would definitely return in the future :)More

We went here a couple of weeks ago, primarily due to my wife being vegan and it came up in a google search as having a separate vegan menu. We were really impressed. The staff were great, we were served quickly but never felt rushed....The vegan menu for my wife was excellent (even had a separate pickle tray for the poppadoms), such a change to have plenty of options available. I had the prawn balti, which was excellent. All in all I'm glad we visited. Not the best curry i have ever had, but certainly very good indeed, with decent portion sizes too. Price was reasonable for London too, I think about £55 inc the usual mains, sides, poppadoms etc plus beers for the two of us. Recommended.More

Had dinner at a table outside the City Spice on brick Lane and it was excellent. We had poppadoms and a selection of dips then for starter I had sheek kebab then for my main I had Garlic chilli chicken. Both of these dishes were...excellent. The service was good as well. Highly recommendedMore

We just wanted to say how incredible the food, the service and the atmosphere was at City Spice! It was the most perfect way to spend my anniversary, our young waiter ( only one wearing glasses) looked after us so wonderfully! The Chicken Tikka Korai...he recommended me was perfectly spicy whilst really flavourful just like he described. Despite it being a busy Saturday Night, the service was great, quick and courteous. Will definitely be returning with a larger party, thank you so much for a wonderful evening.More

Me and my partner booked to come here and Indian is my partners favourite food. Restaurant was quite busy creating a good atmosphere. After looking at which curry house had the best rating on brick lane we came here. Nice greeting upon arrival, seated quickly....Quite small and cosy place. Ordered popadoms to start, then ordered butter chicken curry and I think my partner ordered the Rezala? ( cant quite remember) But my partner asked the waiter for advice and the waiter said the Rezala curry was halfway between a 'vindaloo and a madras' and my partner said that's exactly what it was, advice was spot on and he said it was delicious. Naan breads were lovely and doughy - great flavour. Not sure what the other reviews were about rude staff, poor service? All the staff were very polite and courteous, very attentive and smiley.More

We had the most beautiful and accomodating staff, who from the second we walked in, made us feel like queens. Vegan friendly, BYO, and gave us freebies purely out of the goodness of their hearts! If you’re having doubts. Dont. Food is sensational and you...will be looked after! Couldn’t be happier! XxMore
