We thoroughly enjoyed this quirky little place. We had a cheeseboard and a bottle of white wine it was delicious. The atmosphere is great and you can feel the tremours of the underground network below as you sip your wine. Fabulous place would recommend.

Do not visit the toilet! I have never seen anything so bad, the floor was covered in rubbish/paper, no toilet seat. Reported to the manager who just shrugged it off.

Dear Kim, I am so sorry that you had such an awful experience but I am glad that you have highlighted it. Our WCs are so heavily used and not always treated very well - the loo you refer to has it's seat replaced regularly, pictures have been taken from the wall and the mirror broken. We are awaiting delivery... More

We went to Gordon's after walking around London all day. We had heard about it so we thought why not give it a try. The restaurant is the cooolest place you will ever go. Old exposed brick under the Subway/ metro/ train - you will feel like you are in an old hideaway cave. The system it's also as cool.... More

A lovely 'hidden' place, although it is very crowded most of the time. However, the atmosphere is very good. The concept is easy just wine and cheese (some ham) but nothing more is needed. The wine is very good! You can better buy a bottle than glasses so keep that in mind!

This is a unique place. The bar/eating area is always crowded. You get a table when you pounce on one that is JUST being vacated. If you are an effete wine snob, the carte de vins will leave you drooling. If you just order a glass of the house red or white, you will be just as happy. The bread-cheese-tapas... More

I just love Gordon's wine bar. I've come here on my last two trips to London and I've loved it each time! It's a little bit of a struggle to find a table in the cave inside but both times we've been able to find one within 15-20min. It's worth the wait to have a wine and cheese night in... More

Let us have thinner slices of cheese? I chose a platter of carved cured meat, bread and salad, and then opted for some of the mouthwatering cheeses on display. Alas, they only came in big chunks! So could only have two. OK for sharing if many, but when you're on your own this was just too much and I hade... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
