We visited the Assembly House on Saturday 18th Feb 17 and I have to say after being a regular at the Lavender House I was expecting a lot more, 1. First thing we noticed was the noise, it was so loud in the big room. 2. Seated very close or it seemed that way to the next table. 3. After... More

My sister and I booked The Assembly House for a late Afternoon Tea birthday treat for our mum and nanny. Mum has a lactose intolerance and severe allergy to soy and I can't praise the chefs and staff enough on how understanding they are when it comes to allergies. We pre warned them when booking about mums allergies and when... More

Myself and my boyfriend visited for afternoon tea. The venue is very grand and impressive, with a lovely entrance way. The afternoon tea itself hit the spot, but I have had higher quality, more imaginative afternoon tea before. There was a good selection of tea though.

I always recommend it to people as even just popping in for coffee tea warm freshly made scones...large and completely divine.... Cakes whatever you fancy .... So much nicer in such a beautiful... The dining room at the Assembly House is beautiful and sophisticated. The menu has a carefully selected range of seasonal dishes to choose from. We had potted shrimp and crayfish which was excellent to start. My main course of beef fillet and beef cheek fritter with smoked potato mash was delicious and I would happily order it again. Please visit... More

We had an afternoon tea there on several occasions and it has always been lovely. Food is good, service is good and, atmosphere was lovely. I like that they always re-fill your sandwiches / drinks etc ( unlike some other places that charge the same!) Would return again.

The DB&B rate took the edge of a quite expensive 3 course dinner but the food was very good and served in a knowledgeable, efficient and attentive manner. Breakfast was also a high standard and with a varied menu.
