Such a shame that the little cafe is shut permanently but understandable given the bizarre times we are all living through when it was a quaint higgeldy piggeldy set up, however the rascals remain, but if you want them gooey get there early as stock...moves fast! Wonderful set up in a beautiful city ❤More

Was meeting a few relatives in York all of them over 60 and they were parched for a cup of tea. I suggested Betty's in the square but was put off by the size of the queue. So we opted for here instead and I'm...glad we did. As we were a large group we were sat fairly quickly and attended to within a matter of minutes. All the servers were immaculately dressed and polite. We all opted for a pot of tea or coffee each and scone. The best scone I have ever had!! Lovely atmosphere and attentive host 11/10 if possibleMore

We love the venue with it's old and quirky floor space. The English breakfast was very good. However we had quite a wait for the food. We eaked out our tea and coffee but were left with cold dregs before the meal arrived. Come on...Betty's, we love the food and experience but speed it up a little.More

Tea Luke warm . Stopped off with my sister for lunch as I had eaten hear before and recommended it , we ordered tea for 2 which was Luke warm, sister had egg sandwiches, which were fine a little heavy on the mayo. I had...steak sandwich with chips , the chips were cold so we sent them back , hot ones were provided , steak bun was cold but by this time we couldn’t be bothered to complain again , ladies serving were nice enough but £27 later we left , disappointed and won’t return , overpriced and coldMore

A treat. We looked at the main site on the square but it was full. We nearly passed on the cafe in Stonegate. I’m glad we didn’t. The raclette was delicious and the macaroons were superb. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her spiced parsnip soup. Recommended

After being told that this is worth going to, we had to head in when we passed by. We had a very short wait before being seated, with a warm polite welcome. Good choice of tea and coffee, and tried something different to my normal...choices and I wasn't disappointed at all. The cakes were great and we'll worth the visitMore

Absolutely stunning trip to the cafe when stopping by York. There are actually 2 in the town not far away from each other by walk. I chose the second floor window seat on a very lucky day when there is surprisingly no queue. Ordered iconic...English afternoon tea set. Each single piece on the plate was finely made the way i imagined in terms of taste. And there were good mixture of sweet and savoury flavours. Signature scone was nice with cream. Love my warm tea even without milk and sugar in a slightly cold and showering afternoon. Service was neat, warm and comfortable. Highly recommended for tourist like me. Also witnessed some locals visiting for light afternoon tea.More
