This a really understated restaurant from the outside. You wouldn't think that you would find such good quality food in this tiny building hidden away from the centre. Everything from the food, wine and service was fantastic. I was so impressed. I would happily travel...More

Visited recently and although it was quiet the host was excellent. Dinner was nice and a seat at the window is a must if you like people watching.

Visited 2nd April for dinner. Excellent steak cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth. Service good and unassuming. We haven't been here for a while, it has gone off our radar for some reason. We will return very soon.

Simply put, delicious food and lovely staff. I had the mushroom risotto, one of the best I've ever had, and my partner had the fish pie which he also said was lovely. The coffee was also one of the best I've had in a while....More

Our family group of 10 met for Sunday lunch. There are 3 picky eaters amongst us and our requests were met with a smile and an attitude that nothing was impossible. The restaurant is quite pricey and the portion sizes very small but the food...More

Description
Nineteen Restaurant is a sophisticated little gem nestled in York's vibrant Grape Lane. Situated in one of York's oldest buildings, dating back to 1437, Nineteen provides a relaxing and contemporary atmosphere. The assured menu boasts plenty of fresh seafood and local North Yorkshire produce. Popular dishes include the Whitby fish pie with cheesy topping and the char-grilled ribeye steak served with Bearnaise and triple cooked chips. If that's not enough to make your date doe-eyed, try reminding them that Grape Lane was once an infamous institution in York's old red light district, known to locals as Grope Lane.
