The service was impeccable, waiting staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The drinks are great, the afternoon tea is pretty and tasty with a good variety. The cakes are delicious and beautiful to look at. The only thing letting the experience down was the really...poor offering for dairy free customers. My sandwiches were tasty and interesting, while my friend who had dairy free was given, dry bread with cucumber slices. dry bread with chicken, dry bread with ham, dry bread with smoked salmon. No salad, no Mayo, no dairy free cheese spread, no dairy free butter, no pickle, mustard or condiments. It doesn’t take much to prepare delicious dairy free meals, Mayo is dairy free, as are all other condiments and trimmings. Considering the price, it was disappointing.More

A birthday treat of an afternoon tea here was amazing from start to finish. The staff were very welcoming, had time to stop and chat yet the service was very efficient. The afternoon tea was delicious with sandwiches, warmed scones and beautiful cakes. We managed...to finish it, I don't know how, and really loved it. Thank you!!More

If you are looking for excellent service and attention to detail do not go here! We booked Champagne Afternoon Tea. Firstly the glass of bubbles was bought to the table NOT poured in front of you. Breakfast tea was delivered weak and insipid. Returned and...requested stronger brew. Request for Earl Grey and the tea had little flavour and no fragrance. The,second pot of tea....which I had to walk to find someone to request it ...was better. Waited afterwards, while staff cleared tables around us, to see if anyone, adked if we were OK, did we want anything more, and nobody approached not even t offer us a bill.More

Our greeting in the impressive foyer was friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very impressive both inside and out and beautifully clean. We were there for afternoon tea. Lovely selection of teas and tempting food menu. The afternoon tea was very attractive in its presentation...and every mouthful, delicious. We found the staff to be very genial, making our whole experience a very enjoyable one, thank you.More

Festive themed food and drinks were a must on our xmas break so the Festive Afternoon Tea at the famous Grand Hotel sounded right up our street. Three courses of winter and xmas inspired food as well as a whole menu of themed cocktails for...the season. The classic hotel is an absolutely gorgeous building and looked beautiful with the xmas decor. It began with an Amuse Bouche course of Curried Parsnip Soup, Pigs in Blanket Blini and Chestnut Macaron. They were all delicious but the winner was definitely the mini cup of hot creamy spicy soup The sandwich course was also festive themed and we loved all the different flavours of bread that came with each one- the onion bread and tomato bread in particular were delicious Roast Turkey and Cranberry on Onion Bread Smoked Salmon and Dill Creme Freche on Brown Bread Roast Ham and Wholegrain Mustard on Tomato Bread Egg Mayo and Rocket on White Bread The finale of the festive afternoon tea was definitely the best course with an amazing selection of xmas sweet treats Warm Gingerbread Scones with Cream and Orange Marmalade Egg Nog Christmas Present Mini Mince Pie Mini Yule Log Santas Hat Cheesecake These were all amazing with the stand outs being the thick dark chocolate parcel filled with rich egg nog cream and the raspberry and coconut cheesecake on a shortbread biscuit. We also loved the warm gingerbread scones Onto the cocktails, we managed to sample most of the menu, these were all so easy to drink even the ones without a mixer, the spirit flavours all worked really well together to make some delicious winter creations. A lovely afternoon in a lovely settingMore

Fabulous afternoon tea in the most glamorous venue. We were greeted and made to feel very welcome by Sabhi who took the most amazing care of us. Our afternoon tea started with champagne as we were celebrating followed by our 3 amuse bouche which were...delicious. Tea was then severed along with the sandwiches, my favourite being the peppered pastrami on roasted onion bread. Tea was topped up and the warm scones came out with with clotted cream and jam, there is no photo as the smell was amazing I just had to eat straight away. The cakes were small pieces of art that had tasted incredible. My absolute favourite of all the afternoon teas I’ve tried.More

Very impressed by the welcome we received at the entrance to the grand, being escorted to the dining room, and the explanation of the menu! Our waiter was very attentive & funny which we enjoyed in such a high end hotel. The food was delicious...& the service was excellent! We didn’t feel rushed at any time but weren’t kept waiting for the courses. Well worth the money.More

We prebooked here for the scheme, Eat Out to Help Out. This meant our child's afternoon tea was half price and our two had £10 off each. We were told we couldn't swap or change anything which was annoying as the salmon on both plates...was wasted as neither of us liked it. The first course which was soup was nice. Sandwiches ok but could have done with more and maybe less cakes. The cakes were full size and after a scone and a cake, it was more than enough sugar. It was good as you were getting your monies worth as it was expensive compared to other places. They boxed it up for us which was good so I gave it to the rest of the family who didn't attend. I wouldn't rush back, but I can see why someone else would enjoy it.More

Visited here for Prosecco afternoon tea and it was perfect. The setting is beautiful, what a lovely hotel. We loved how you got the amuse Bouche first and then came the sandwiches and then it was the scones and cakes on a tier. We never...felt rushed. All the food was amazing and we struggled to pick our favourite. Would 100% revisit, we have had a few afternoon teas and would probably vote this my favourite.More
